East Ocean Restaurant
East Ocean Teochew Restaurant at Shaw Centre has always been known as one of the top restaurants in Singapore serving Hong Kong style Teochew cuisine. It is the place that most people mention when you ask them what their favourite Teochew restaurant is.
Besides serving traditional Teochew favourites, they are also very popular for their dim sum. For several months, friends have been telling me that I simply have to go there during weekend for dim sum.
just had awesome dinner at here...
i'm really like their egg tart ..suitable with my taste :D
This Chinese teo chew restaurant has been long well known for their different ranges of welly designed and hand made dim sums.Have tried most of them but my favourite among all will be their yam puffs.Although it may looks really simple, but the taste of it is really wonderful and delicious. The yam filling is moist and not too sweet. The minced pork fillings in the center it are very tasty and fragrant which included generous portions of minced pork, diced mushrooms, mixed vegetables, and etc.I would like to recommend to those who loves to eat unique and quality dims and does not really bother the high pricings of it.Spending: Approximately SGD 30.00(Other)
1st time i went with a group of friends
we ordered 4-5 dishes & yam paste
total damage -$45bucks per person
yam paste - very thick with strong yam taste
roasted pork - super duper nice, meat is very juicy with very crispy skin,i love it ^^ but the potion is very little
This time is my dad bought the mooncakes back
mini skinskin lotus paste - nice!!,the paste not very sweet, with nice lotus paste fragrant
for the custard mooncake,is a bit blend, custard not very strong
overall i rate 8/10Spending: Approximately SGD 45
Had some really awesome dimsum at East Ocean Teochew Restaurant. We ordered the char siew pau, har gao, egg tarts, spring rolls and many other dimsums. Not too oily and salty Had a great time spent with family over such nice dimsums. Certainly made us charged up for a whole day of shopping Spending: Approximately SGD 38
My buddy met at orchard road after our facial and we decided to go for dim sum on a weekend. This was her first time to East Ocean, as for me, I had been there a few times, as last time I used to work around that place. Although we were only two of us, we ordered quite a fair bit till the waitress told us it should be enough for two of us.
We ordered ha gao, siew mai, Fried octopus tentacles, fried seafood beancurd, fried carrot cake and char siew bao. All we ordered tasted good, but to me, it seems more pricey as compared to the other dim sum restaurants. Will be back if I am around that area and wanting to have dim sum.
Spending: Approximately SGD 30
One weekday afternoon, my colleague and i decided to go orchard road for lunch. So my colleague recommended me to this restaurant called East Ocean Teochew Pte Ltd. We went inside the restaurant, i noticed the menu of tim sum have some special design that i never find outside before. So we ordered a few designs of tim sum and try. The tim sum is creative and willing to eat there next time.
I met my aunties at the Isetan sales after I went back to shop. They suggested to go for lunch at The Ship initially so I agreed to it. I was thinking to order some drink since I already had my double cheese burger. However , it turned out that The Ship was so packed that day and so we headed to East Ocean in the end. So I ended up eating again!
Most of the items that she ordered were really nice. I even took the glutinous rice to try out even though I was really really very full after finishing my bowl of porridge, I like one of the dumplings which was in the picture but I forgotten what was the name for that dish. It was filled with some vegetables and peanuts instead of the usual prawn fillings. That was something which I have not tried before elsewhere. The skin of for the dumpling are translucent and thin so it was really appealing. Price is also reasonable. Definitely a good place to go for dim sum.
This is really a great place for dim sum lovers! Their food in general is good and more of like teochew style. The dim sum were all very freshly made. I especially love their har kau (the prawn is very fresh and crunchy), chee cheong fun (the texture is very smooth) and lau sa bao - custard buns, the filling will just flow when you bite into the bun. It is absolutely yummy. Think its the best custard bun i ever had!
Apparently, this is a very popular restaurant, always so busy and packed with people. So it is a must to make reservation!
Defintely will be back for their dim sum again!
