Great History
Aurora is the third largest city in Colorado. It was founded by a real estate tycoon by the name of Donald Fletcher who fled the city two years later, leaving its residents with bond payments for water that wasn't there. The city petitioned for annexation by Denver to save it from its lack of water, but ended up pulling through on its own. It was renamed Aurora (it was originally named after Fletcher) sixteen years after it was founded, and has been called that ever since. It has often been considered a suburb of Denver, but was the fastest growing city in the US during the 1970/80s and is now about half the size of Denver, and is definitely a city in its own right.
Great Sites
Aurora is the home of what used to be Fitzsimmons Army Medical Center, a hospital where US President Dwight D. Eisenhower recovered from a heart attack in 1955. Fitzsimmons Army Medical Center has since been decommissioned and will soon become the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center.
Great Location
Located just east of Denver, Aurora residents have access to all the commodities and amenities of Denver, without actually living there. Denver offers science museums, art museums, parks, theaters, amusement parks, the Denver Broncos and other sports teams, and colleges and universities.
10 Reasons To Live
The State of Pennsylvania is home to over 12 million people, and has been a fond place of residence for Americans since well before the founding of our nation. There are plenty of reasons why these folks call PA "home." Once you have lived here for a while, you'll understand; but if you haven't, here is a list of some of the top reasons why Pennsylvania is a great place to live:
1. A deeply-rooted local history. Pennsylvania boasts some of America's oldest and most important landmarks. From the birthplace of our nation's independence (Philadelphia) to the cradle of American industry (Scranton, Pittsburgh), PA carries a rich heritage that shows through with its old brick architecture and timeless atmosphere.
2. Urban excitement. Pennsylvania is full of numerous lively cities, each with a thriving culture of its own. Philly, with its Eagles and famous cheesesteaks. Pittsburgh, with its Steelers and shining rivers. Harrisburg, Lancaster, Reading, Scranton, York and others dot the state with their own unique personality, as well.
3. Natural beauty. If you've been on the road for a while, its easy to tell when you've entered Pennsylvania. The hills begin to rise and dip, and the trees draw together densely, forming a landscape of pluming growth. (Interestingly, "Pennsylvania" literally means "Penn's Woods.") Pennsylvania is the perfect place for a camping trip, a country drive, or even a country life!
4. Job opportunities. There are always employers in Pennsylvania looking for skilled individuals to join their team. Whether you are interested in business, education, health care, or trade work, Pennsylvania has a great position waiting for you!
5. An ideal location. Pennsylvania is placed on a prime piece of real estate. Depending on where you live in the state, you can be less than 4 hours from New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington D.C., and Jersey beach all at one time!
Without a doubt, Pennsylvania is a very well-rounded place to lay your roots. But don't just take the list's word for it: Come on by and see the Keystone State for yourself!
