2009 Hair Style Trends

    View:
The hair style trends in 2005 swept the globe slowly, which means that the life cycle is actually a few years from the birth of a new trend to the eventual fizzle. And then there are those we can't ever seem to eradicate completely such as the terrible 80's bangs. A lot of styles come and go and some stick around for years to come. Some of the reflecting hairstyles of the season of 2005 are as follows:

Reflecting the annual, age-old battle between traditional sophistication and teenage freshness, 2005 prom hair styles were a blend of the classic hair dos of yesteryear and some funky modern hair styles. The 2005 prom hairstyles showed a lot of sophistication, ease, and beauty. As usual, curls were very much in evidence, but - surprisingly - one of the many popular 2005 prom hairstyles was the long and straight yet simple look.

Another major hairstyle trend this season is the braid. If you read fashion magazines often enough, then you will probably thinking, aren't braids claimed to be 'in' all the time? Well, like many other trends, braids can be styled differently and look very different with different complimentary fashion.

The old Hollywood glamour is characterized by smooth, voluptuous waves, and deep side parts. The latest techniques to get the look are pin curling and finger waving. Do a beautiful vintage accessory on one side or at the back. Look for items with rhinestones or feathers, especially ostrich feathers.

Return to the 80's means an influence from that time...texture and movement, shorter layers throughout the top, lots of waves and tousled curls. It does not mean that if you're still sporting a tired old eighties mullet, you're suddenly back en vogue.

The Razor cut has always been around, on and off. But for 2008, a razor cut with a lot of emphasis on layering is being predicted to be absolutely in. You may have short or long hair and the razor style can be implemented beautifully, without compromising on length.

One of the most important factors to take into account when choosing a hair design or style is the shape of the person's face, simply because the hair frames the face and the shape of the person's face will determine what kind of cut, style or design will look the best.

Choosing your hair style

There are lots of great hairstyle sites, featuring lots of good resources, where you can check out the latest hairstyles, tips and techniques, and product secrets from professional stylists.

Read magazines and subscribe to a good hairstyle magazine and you can't go wrong.

Do you know what hair styles you like and why you like them? If you explain to your stylist what you like about certain features of a hair style i.e. long side-swept bangs or long layers in the back, the stylist may be able to add some of these features to your hair style even though the entire hair style may not be suited for your hair.
2009 Hair Style Trends
Hair style trend is notoriously fickle. One day, the latest hairstyle trend may be long flowing tresses while, the very next day, the bald look may be back in vogue. The 2006 hairstyle trend emphasizes a no-frills, chic look. And as always, the 2006 hairstyle trend is heavily inspired by celebrity hair style that are currently the rage.

The 2006 hairstyle trend predicts the short hair style or the pixie look and the formal hairdo will rule the roost. The short hair style looks adorable and is easy to manage. The formal hair style looks dignified and can be anything from a simple knot, ponytail or plait to the hair worn loose.

The variations are aplenty whether you choose a short hair style or a long hair style and it is always worthwhile to take the opinion of friends and acquaintances and of course, the hair stylist.

Celebrity hair style had been the most significant determinant of the 2006 hairstyle trend. You have David Beckham from the sporting fraternity and movie bigwigs like Kate Winslet and Tom Cruise, who have been elevated to the status of style icons of our age. Thus whatever be the celebrity hair style, it becomes a trend.

This year at the Golden Globe Awards, the rage was Hilary Swank's ?million dollar? slick pony tailed hairdo and Cate Blanchett's fragile, touch-me-not look with mid-length curls. Kate Winslet looked a stunner at the 11th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, with her hair pulled back in a bun and soft curls framing her face. The 2006 hairstyle trend will continue to be set at the Oscars too.

Hair style trend may come. Hair style trend may go. But some hair style trend stays on forever. And they are the classics. One such hair style is the Versatile Cut, which is a layered cut with short hair underneath and longer hair above and looks great both gelled and free flowing.

Another timeless hair style trend is the Dimensional Shag - a versatile cut with fringes and sides lends to both long and short locks. The look can be made more alluring with a dash of color on the top or underneath and around the face.

The 2006 hairstyle trend incorporates such classic hair styles as well. However, it is foolhardy to be a weathervane and follow every trend. At the end of the day, what matters most is how well the new hair style trend flatters you.

So if you have a round face and a stocky neck, steer clear of Cate Blanchett's hairstyle. Instead, pull your hair back and up off your neck. A large face looks thinner with bouncy or wavy locks.

Following the latest hairstyle trend is fine as long as you don't look like having a bad hair day. If the choices don't suit you, feel free to experiment and who knows, even you might end up setting a 2006 hairstyle trend.
