I did not succeed until I stopped placing ads in newspapers and putting flyers on cars because they were not generating quality leads. I stopped listening to everyone trying to tell me that those methods got them to the top twenty years ago. They may have worked for people in the past, but they were not working for me. I have seen many colleagues put themselves right out of business following plans that were not working for them simply because they were told by their upline to just "hang in there and never quit." Doing the same thing over and over again will always get you the same results…ALWAYS! Let me save you dollars, energy and time by saying...STOP! Do not take it personally if something does not work out. You tried and failed. Failure is a part of success. Repeated failure from doing the same thing over and over leads to NEVER succeeding. The average network marketer enrolls only 3 to 4 people into their business before they give up and quit because they were not trained as a marketer. They used systems and techniques that were not designed to make money in this business. They are designed to make your company succeed instead of you, the small guy. Companies know that even if you drop out, you will bring them a few people who will stick around and consume their product faithfully. They do not do this intentionally to rip you off. For them, it is strictly a numbers game.
If thousands of people out there are doing the same thing as you, the company will still make money in the long run even with the high drop out rate. Start treating your business like you are the CEO and PRESIDENT of that enterprise. The truth is...YOU ARE! You have complete control over what happens in your business and YOU are responsible. You do not need to follow a system that your upline has designed for you to spend money on with no guarantee of success. You can grow any business to levels of incomprehension simply by knowing how to market your product to the right people.
SECRET #3: POSITION YOURSELF AS AN EXPERT IN YOUR INDUSTRY
Establishing yourself as an expert is crucial to your success. No matter what you are marketing, learning positioning tactics will ultimately have prospects begging to join you in business. Forget about 3-way calling. That is making your upline the expert. And talking to your friends and family, or people who you meet in public, will not work either. These methods are not designed for your personal success, they work work for the success of the company as a whole. I have been in business for over a decade and I can literally count on one hand the amount of my friends who bought products from me. That does not generate enough income to pay my bills. If you have always wondered about the people on stage who receive the big checks year after year, they get them through positioning...NOT because they continue to talk to their grocery store checker every day. The only thing that is stopping you is the knowledge of how to position yourself as a leader. Marketing is marketing and it does not matter what you are selling. Oprah Winfrey has never offered the world anything unique that has not been offered before, but she is a master of marketing and positioning herself as an expert. She understands that for any business to be successful she has to have millions of prospects. Your business is no different. You cannot have a massive amount of prospects without mastering the art of positioning.
SECRET #4: STOP LEADING WITH YOUR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY
This means STOP handing out "Work From Home" flyers and brochures. Any new associate must be a product of the product in order for them to stick around…Period! Every person I sponsored who joined my organization without loving the products I market eventually quit. The only people who are still around are those who do not want to live without their products. Everyone likes to make money, but in the long run we all pay for products. That ia how your business grows. By leading with your product, even if they never market them, at least your business is not shrinking and the same amount of people will become business builders. Besides that, you never want to work with people whose only focus is on how much money they will make. They generally do not like helping people, and they will split the first chance they think the grass is greener somewhere else.
SECRET #5: STOP FOLLOWING INTERNET SYSTEMS THAT OFFER EXPENSIVE LEADS!
If you are following someone elses' "system" that offers expensive leads without any guarantee that they will work for you, STOP! Quit the system and cut your losses. For the most part, these systems are put together by top distributors and designed mostly to supplement their already incredible incomes while you, the struggling distributor, get stuck with the bill. I bet you did not know that you can get the same quality leads by yourself for a fraction of what you have been paying. IT'S TRUE! The reason why is because ALL LEADS STINK! The mark-up price comes from the arrangement that top distributor has made with the lead generation company providing these so-called great leads. I have seen many people begin to have success with these systems, only to eventually end up in bankruptcy because they bought into the numbers game theory. They were told to just keep buying the leads and it would eventually pay off. WRONG! The key to leads is finding people interested in what you have, and expensive leads are not any better than cheap leads. At least when you find them for yourself, you know where they are coming from and you have the satisfaction of knowing you are not overspending.
The bottom line is that the techniques still being taught by network marketing companies do not work the way they used to. The market is over-saturated with disgruntled people who dropped out after having spent their life savings following their dreams the wrong way. The good news though, is that you do not need to give up. You just need to change your way of thinking and learn how to be a marketer.
