The history of the Tarot is something that is buried by time. There are some references and analyzers that attach the creation of the Tarot with that of aged Egypt, while other analyzers and analysts infer that the Tarot shares race with aged gypsy cultures. Still, there are other researchers that ascribe an Italian inception to the Tarot cards, and it is concluded that the Tarot Cards grew into a mechanism of divination right around the 1400s. Since that time, hundreds of variant decks have advanced and are currently in use. One of the largest favored decks being the Rider-Waite deck.



The modernized tarot deck is separated into what is commonly termed the major arcana or trump cards and minor arcane or suits of cards. The trump cards or major arcana consist of twenty two cards, all without suits. These include the fool, the Magician, the Empress, Justice, the Wheel of Fortune and others. The minor arcana is made up of of four suits of cards; swords, staves, cups and coins. Now, staves are time after time named wands, but rods or batons are seen as well. Coins may be called disks or pentacles in some tarot decks.

Tarot card interpretations are always changing - and they show also differed significantly through time. Nowadays, in spite of, there are common and general card meanings. For example, minor arcana cards mostly display an astrological meaning that changes along with the seasons of the year. On another side of things, court cards talk of people and their nature. This nature concerns the physio-emotional traits of a being.More specifically, the determinants of a card's meaning are the following: Card Number, pivotal Number, Rulership (Astrology), Hebrew Letter, Translation, and Numerical Value. The meaning is also determined by the position of the card, whether it is upright or Ill-respected/Reversed. The difference between peoples' readings is the weights they impose on the disparate 'statistics' and 'attributes' of the card.

When card readings are conducted face-to-face, the card reader will on occasion ask the querent to shuffle the cards as they concentrate on the question. The querent will now and then be asked to split the deck into three piles, and then to put the deck back together again. The card reader then lays out the cards in a specific pattern, and each card has a dissimilar meaning, depending upon the layout used. For example, the card reader may layout three cards, one to signify the old lang syne, one for the present and one for the outcome: all three cards together give a jammed full interpretation of a given situation.
