Pocket watch by Adolph Lange



This pocket watch was created in 1868. Despite the fact that Adolph Lange for a long time had worked in Glashütte at that time, Dresden was chosen to be the place of origin.

The watch has gold chatons, engraved balance cock with diamond endstone, lever and escape wheel, both being made of gold. The enamel dial has small seconds and the case is made of 18-carat gold case.

The centennial tourbillon

For the first time the watch was presented by Emil Lange at the 1900 World Exposition, held in Paris. There Emil Lange was invited as a member of the jury.

This watch model has a German silver movement that has a fusee-and-chain transmission. It also includes screwed gold chatons and an engraved tourbillon carriage cock.

The centennial tourbillon has an enamel dial with UP-and-DOWN indication; in addition the dial has small seconds. The case is made of yellow gold with platinum plating.

The dial cover of the watch has a miniature enamel painting illustrating Minerva, the laurel-wreathed Roman goddess of handicrafts. Minerva holds an olive branch, which is next to a globe and at the background there is a view of Dresden.

The Kaiser William watch

Kaiser William II, while on visit to Turkey in 1898, gave this timepiece to Sultan Abdul Hamid II as a gift. Today, the watch is part of the collection in Topkapi Sarayi Museum, which is located in Istanbul.

The movement of the timepiece has 16 rubies, it includes a whiplash precision index adjuster, and its lever and escape wheel are made of gold. The dial includes small seconds. The case of the model is made of 18-carat gold and enriched with 18 rubies and 57 brilliants. The sprung cover includes an enamel portrait of Kaiser William II.

Pocket chronograph

The production of ratchet-wheel pocket chronographs started back in 1868. This particular watch was created in 1903.

The model includes diamond endstone together with whiplash precision index adjuster. Both lever and escape wheel are covered in gold. The chronograph mechanism of the watch, together with the ratchet wheel is configured above the movement. The dial has a 30-minute counter and small seconds. The case is made of 18-carat pink gold.

Double chronograph

It is worth mentioning that the company developed only 35 pocket watches, each having separate double-chronograph feature. One of such exclusive timepieces is this double chronograph that was produced in 1891.

Dial has small seconds. 18k pink-gold case of the timepiece was crafted later (the original case, made of yellow-gold is missing).

Walter Lange's journeyman's piece

This watch was made after World War II, in 1946. It was then that Walter Lange continued his work as a watchmaker at the Glashütte Watchmaking School. There he created this watch.

The Zeppelin observation watch

This timepiece was sold in 1935 to the Zeppelin yard at Friedrichshafen. The watch was used for airship navigation as well as for air traffic control. The watch has a gold pallet lever. The dial is silver-plated and it includes subsidiary seconds together with "UP-and-DOWN" power-reserve indicator.
