Toners must be alcohol-free as alcohol dries off skin. You can also make a natural skin toner at home. Tomato juice is a good skin toner. Cucumber toner is a refreshing toner for normal skins. You have to tone your skin for a youthful, rejuvenated feel.



Place a tablespoon of chopped mint in a jar and add 2 tablespoons cider vinegar. Shake well and leave in the fridge for a few days. Strain the liquid and add 300 ml water. Dab onto the skin with cotton wool.

For combination skin, light toning lotion should be used all over the face, except for the eye area. Then apply the astringent on the greasy areas with cotton wool. Never let the astringent spill over the dry cheek and eye areas.

Rose is an excellent skin toner. Make rose water by mixing 1 tablespoon rose oil with 2 ¼ litres of purified water. Bottle it and store in the refrigerator.

Alcohol-based astringents are usually recommended for oily skins. If there is a burning sensation, discontinue and switch over to a herbal skin toner.

The skin is freshened and rejuvenated using toning lotions. They help to increase the blood supply to the skin. At the same time, toning can help keep it clear and firm by cleaning the oil and reducing pore size.

Keep cotton wool pads soaked in a bowl of skin tonic in the refrigerator. After cleansing the skin, pat briskly. This is also the time when you can give yourself a face massage. Using the cotton wool pads, soaked in skin tonic, start on the cheeks with an outward and slightly upward movement using both hands. Use both hands to work on each side simultaneously towards the temples. Press lightly at each temple. For the chin and on the corner of the nose, use small circular movements. Use a circular motion and a very light touch for the area around the eyes.

Put in a jar a tablespoon of chopped mint and add two tablespoons of cider vinegar. Shake well and put in a cold place like fridge for few days. Get the liquid back and add 300 ml of water. Rub it on the skin with cotton.

While applying toner on your forehead, start from the centre and move outwards on either side, again ending at your temples.

Top skin toners help remove all traces of oil, dirt and makeup and revitalize your face by closing the pores when patted on gently with cotton pads. Toning helps refresh and improve blood circulation to add that lost glow of youth to your skin.

Stroking: Apply oil to the area to be massaged. The movement consists in running your hands very lightly over the Part of the body you wish to massage. This soothes and calms and relaxes the nerves. The hands should be easy and relaxed and you just stroke up the limb towards the heart.
