The minister was not familiar with the backwoods area and became lost. Being the typical man he didn't ask anyone for directions or stop on the way for directions. He had gotten lost but finally he arrived, an hour late. He noticed the crew and back hoe, but the hearse had departed. The workmen had stopped to eat their lunch. He apologized to the workers for his tardiness. They were nonchalant and continued their meal.
The young minister stepped up to the side of the open grave to find the vault lid already in place. He assured the workers that he would not hold them for long but this was the proper thing to do. The workers gathered around, still munching on their lunch. He poured out his heart and soul. As he preached, the workers began to say, "Amen. Praise the Lord and Glory." He preached like he never preached before.
As he finished and was walking to his car, he felt that he had done his duty and would leave with a renewed sense of purpose and dedication. He then heard one of the workers say to the others, "I've been putting in septic tanks for 20 years, and I ain't never seen or heard nothing like this before."
Ask your customers questions and make sure you are selling them what they want to buy. Solutions to their problems, needs and wants!
# 1 Rule in Selling is:
The seller who solves the customer's problems, needs and wants the easiest for them will get the sale
You can make selling a lot easier by finding out what the customer's real problems, needs and wants are.
For example: A person shopping for a million dollars of life insurance is not looking to purchase a million dollars of insurance. They are looking to give their family security.
When I go to the store to purchase a suit I am not looking for clothing. I want to solve my need and want to look good, look professional and have people believe I am successful.
How do you find out what the customer's real problems, needs and wants they want solved are?
Ask them.
It is easy: When a customer calls me and says, "I would like information about your sales growth programs."
I immediately ask, "Why?" They then tell me their problems, needs or wants.
If you STOP selling your products and services right now and start asking questions that enable you to solve the customers problems, needs and wants your sales and profits will increase. Guaranteed!
Ask Questions And Get Answers
If I responded to this question by saying: "On average 80% of today's Forex traders will succeed" you might be justified in calling me crazy, however some 15 years ago one might be inclined to answer with such bold figures. Certainly it would not be uncommon for at least 50 to 60% of the chosen few Forex traders to achieve success in those days. The currency market was fresh and opportunities were wide open. Daily price movements were somewhat more predictable and the competition was not nearly as aggressive as it is today.
As time moved on from the late 80s, early to mid 90s and on up to our Present day the success rate dropped drastically as the Forex market progressively became saturated with day traders; this in turn made for a more unpredictable trading environment. The every day static thats pushing the intra-day market is symbolic of countless traders trying to make their profits. It's unfortunate to take note that less than 10% of the investors currently trading the Forex market come out on top.
Let's take a closer look at the real ratio of winners to losers. You see, it's important to understand that this isn't a luck of the draw situation. When you look at figures like 1-in-10 there is certainly much more than meets the eye beneath these numbers. Let's take a moment to discuss this in a bit more depth.
Take 10 traders asking the question "What are my chances at succeeding in Forex" and try to find out which of them has the mind of a champion. The answer is rather disappointing, as those who think big do not ask small questions like this. Thus you will not end up with 1 winner and 9 losers. The same holds true if you conducted this experiment with 100 traders, or even 1,000. So the odds are 1-in-10, you might say that this doesn't make sense? That is a very good question as within the answer lies one of the keys to your trading success regardless of which system, method or school of thought you subscribe to.
From those who are winning constantly we notice a pattern. Specifically the pattern of positive questions, they tend to stay away from a losing attitude by not asking self defeating questions such as: "What are the chances that I'm in the losing percentile?" but unfortunately the vast majority of those who are not making steady growth have no option but confusion as they wonder why they aren't on the winning end of things; constantly asking: "Why do I keep losing in Forex?" and unfortunately getting in return disappointing answers. The answers may be "Because you're not good enough" or "You're not making enough pips per month", these answers do not help in the least as far as taking a hold of your financial destiny as a Forex trader. If you don't want to be left in the dark without a lamp then it's time to take control of your mind and give yourself the psychological edge you need and deserve.
Becoming an expert Forex trader requires that you swap out the negative questions you may find yourself asking from time to time with positive questions. If you ask empowering questions you will automatically fuel your confidence. Rather than getting discouraged when you suffer loss, simply refocus and center your thoughts on a new empowering question. For example try not to ask: "Why do I keep losing these trades", rather try asking: "What can I do to start winning". They may sound like similar questions however the answers you receive will always be drastically different, and without a doubt these questions and answers will play a lead role in defining the destiny of your financial future as an investor. A winning state of mind is the life force that drives those winning Forex investors.
The category we find ourself in more often then not is self inflicted simply due to the fact that we are in the habit of asking the wrong sort of questions. We're all capable of thinking like a champion and this skill will undoubtedly lead you towards greatness of both mind and life. Building success starts in the mind and will go a long way in shaping the outcome of your life as a trader.
