There is a simple and easy method of marketing that most marketers forget to tell you about.
The major trick is The Persistence Factor.
This type of marketing is easy as you only do it for half to an hour once each day for a week. Each day you do something different. Below are some examples:
* On Monday you contact by mail or phone two clients you've not contacted for a while asking how they are and how their consultancy/business is doing. Don't get any heavier than that into the conversation just be pleasant and enquiring
* I keep URL's of interesting information and e-mail them straight to clients who are in that line of work. I look for articles and reports that I can send to my clients with a business card attached saying I hope that they are useful. I just do this once a week on Tuesday.
* I say Wednesday for this item but Networking meetings happen on most days of the week. If you get invited go along armed with business cards. Listen to what is being said, take any business cards offered and use the back to make notes on what was said and exactly what they do.
* Thursday may be the day you dedicate to long standing clients. Make sure that any work you are doing is fine by them. Give them a call and if they are happy, well now is the time to ask for a testimonial. If you are short of work you could also ask if there is anything further you can do to help.
* On Friday write all this up in your diary. See if you need to contact anyone else this week and make notes for next week. Track any new work you may have got directly from this week's actions.
What you have done during the week is make contact with mainly current clients. These are clients that are easier to get work from. You have also met new prospective clients and give your marketing a real push. It has not taken long each day and it is time well spent
Now is the really cleaver thing - you keep doing this every week and it will get easier and easier.
Look at your week's diary and see how many people you have contacted. Now multiply that by 48 weeks of the year. The amount of marketing you are doing is huge, yet you are spending a few hours a week doing it. People will come to know your name and the name of your business. They will also know what you do and so your likelihood of getting work grows with every week.
Let's go further afield
There are many forums on the Internet. Not just for Virtual Assistants but also for the types of client you have. You can learn about your clients work by joining their forums and getting good background knowledge of their skills.
You can also get to know other VAs who may live on anther continent from you and occasionally you may get work passed to you from them. This has happened to me and I have passed work on to others. You can add 10 minutes a day on forums as a good marketing experience. I probably spend more than that.
So my first tip is - write down what you are going to do in your hour each day next week and do it.
Jerry Seinfeld was asked how he became a famous writer. He said he got a large 'year at a glance' calendar and every day he wrote he put a red cross on the day. He started Jan 1st and finished Dec 31st. Every single day had a red cross on it and he still does it every day.
If success and a good career as a VA is what you are looking for then be organised in your marketing and you will be surprised how easy virtual assistant marketing really is.
Assistant Marketing Manager Jobs
There is a simple and easy method of marketing that most marketers forget to tell you about.
It is called the Persistence Factor
The rules of this method of marketing are simple and you do one a day for the 5 days of the working week.
* Monday could be the day you contact a couple of clients who you have not worked with for a while to see how they and their businesses are. Just a polite enquiry is enough to remind them that you are still there and it is amazing how often that turns into work.
You will see that you have made contact with many businesses, mainly while you were sitting at your desk. It took you only about half an hour a day and it may even have generated work the first week you did this. But we have not finished with the Persistence factor yet.
Now comes the real trick - you need to do this on a weekly basis.
What about the rest of the world?
I am not joking. I have got work by going to Internet Forums that my clients told me about. I have learnt more about their business and got work from other consultants.
I have also joined overseas VA forums and made friends there. I spend about 10 minutes a day on forums and take their daily mails.
So my first tip is - write down what you are going to do in your hour each day next week and do it.
The habit of doing something every day at the same time is something that many famous writers and artists have done. If you do not make your advertising a habit you will not do it, there will always be something else to do.
