Dont call and beg:

Immediately after the partition, you will be voracious to ring her to explain the situation and make her understand that you are the perfect match for her. Differently it can be equated to begging. Do you actually love her?

Avoid giving promises:

Realign yourself if you get to know something is hindering your relationship. If smoking is the main cause of your partition, quit that altogether. Instead of promising her that I'll quit smoking, go in front of her after quitting smoking, will she be surprised, you bet. Smoking was just an example; it will apply to even any small habit or actions, which your ex disliked a lot. May be that was not the reason for your break up at that moment. But it should not turn out to be a reason hovering around her mind. So the only way to make her amazed is to make a change in you.

Now, the Masterpiece:

It might have taken some time for you to change and improve yourself. Now just call her nonchalantly like Just you wanted to know whats going on. Talk to her like a friend. Call her to have some coffee with you. Dont open your mouth about your relationship in some immediate encounters. Make yourself cool and follow the steps of winning her back.

So, you will want to be aware of what are the things that you should not do. Perhaps, understanding one principle will help you in getting your girlfriend back.

I believe you may have heard of this before but you didn't know how to apply it to your life.

The principle is, "People want what they cannot have." The harder it is to get something, the more you want it. Similarly, if something is very easy for you to get, you will most probably not treasure it as much.

Sometimes, people made the mistakes of trying too hard to get their girlfriend back, like calling too often, arguing over the break up, etc.

All these mistakes violate the principle mentioned above. You want to avoid all these mistakes. Making all these mistakes can make your girlfriend perceive you as someone she can easily get and she will not be as keen to get back to you.

There are still things you can do to reverse your mistakes and help get you ex back. Sometimes, it may even improve your situation.
