I've heard it said that the first real Snow fall of the Holiday season is supposed to be magical.I've also heard it said that it means Santa is taking the slay out for the test run! Sunday December 2nd was the first real Snow fall of the 2007 Holiday Season on Long Island. Now I'm not saying I always believe Everything I hear, but it was a Magical Day and I did see Santa.
He was at the Cycle Sisters MC and the Reach Committee from Quest Diagnostics "Breakfast with Santa" Toy Fundraiser. The event started at 9am at the Marine Corps Building in Massapequa with a Smorgasbord of Breakfast foods, Donated by IHOP of Massapequa and Dunkin Donuts of North Babylon and Deer Park.
The place was packed with Children both young and old enjoying the morning festivity's with Mr. Santa Claus himself! The only cost to enter was one Toy donated to the Marine Corps "Toys for Tots". There where many Elves on hand to help Santa out, most had pointy ears but there was one Standing Tall and Proud in Uniform.
This was a great event and all the Children where thrilled to be able to sit and enjoy Breakfast and tell old St' Nick what they wanted this year for Christmas! As for me well I can not think of many ways I'd rather spend a morning then with a bunch of Donuts and my friends the Lady's of the Cycle Sisters MC!

Step 1. Select a Charity
Choose a charity to receive the funds. To me, the best charities to benefit would be related to children – at least during the holidays. Is there a children's hospital in your town? Or a family having a hard time in your school or church?
Step 2. Location & Time
Now you can begin to plan a date and time. If you don't have access to a facility, contact local churches or schools to see if you can use their building for the event. If one place says “no” keep asking. You will probably need to sign a contract that states you will follow the rules of the building and will clean up after the event. Secure the facility as soon as you can in advance on the event.
Step 3. Find Volunteers
Now that you've reserved a place and you have your date, it's time to call in the troops. You'll need lots of resources (people and supplies). Hopefully, by asking around, you'll be able to find ways to get plenty of both for free.
Some places to contact are:
Local Military (If you have a base nearby.)
High School Sports Clubs
Churches
Schools
Moms Club
Colleges and Universities
Local Businesses, Stores, Restaurants
Girl and Boy Scouts
Of course you need a Santa. Ask around and you'll find someone willing to recruit a family member.
Step 4. Determine Entertainment & Activities
Of course the main attraction will be Santa and the pancakes. However, if you have a large turnout you'll want to have other activities to entertain the children.
Set up a craft table for the kids. Games are also fun. Alter the classic games and put a Christmas twist on them – like pin the nose on Santa.
Plan pictures with Santa. Find a local photographer and allow the photographer to display a sign for publicity. Also ask her to donate a percentage of sales to your organization. Oftentimes photographers are happy for the opportunity.
Set up a storytelling area. All you'll need is a quiet area, some good Christmas books, and comfy cushions.
And, of course, Face Painting is a must have.
Step 5. Promote Your Breakfast with Santa Fundraiser
Now, get the word out so your event is a huge success!
Provide flyers at all the following locations:
Grocery Stores
Bookstores
Elementary Schools
Preschools and Daycares
Libraries
Doctor's Offices
Also, contact local radio stations, newspapers and family publications. Give the news something positive to report about.
That's all there is to it. From there, just enjoy your event, knowing you're doing something wonderful and helping others. Merry Christmas!
