I'm sure that if you've ever had the experience of moving then you are well aware of just how much money you can put out and keep putting out throughout the move. It seems like it's never going to end sometimes right? This is a trap most of us fall into because we just think its normal or feel that if we don't the crew packing up your home will just walk away from the job or just not be too concerned with just doing a good job.

However thinking that you need to keep shelling out your hard earned bucks on movers is customary, well its not. If you know what to do and what to look for with moving companies and how they price out your estimate for your move, this could prevent you from having to pay for additional costs you were never expecting to pay later on.

It doesn't matter if you're moving to a major city like NYC or using Packers & Movers service in a small town in the suburbs of NYC the moving industry is still the same. Here are some helpful tips for you as the mover can do to help avoid paying those extra fees before you hire a mover or moving company.

First, you can prevent your moving quote from increasing by making sure that your estimate is in writing. This is how movers can change rates on you. Never, for your protection, accept any kind of verbal agreement for prices and on services that could be included. Your only protection is to have every expected service in writing and written out clearly and in detail. This way there is no misunderstandings. The better and more professional the company is the least you have to ask for because they will have made sure that all you wanted and needed is notes and understood by you and them.

Second, when you select a moving company make sure that you have written clearly your confirmed destination. Make sure you know for certain where you want the moving truck to go right from the start before you sign off on your contract. Any minor changes to a signed contract gives the moving company reason to up the estimate just because it involves extra work. So make sure you are clear on that matter to prevent an increase in your great rate quote.

Third, have you ever heard of a long carry charge? You just think that where ever and what ever means possible it takes for movers have to park their truck, get to your house, get your packed items and furniture is a matter that you just think happens, well think again. Finally, if you're moving long distance then you know that your rate is based on inventory. The quantity of space your stuff occupies. This is why I always say that if you don't really need it, then don't take it with you. This is where you can save yourself a lot of money on your move. Go ahead and have that garage sale now before you move not when you get there. For local moves, charges are usually for distance plus a cost per hour per mover.

Try to be exact from the start of the furniture pieces you are taking. Any additional pieced you want movers to move will cost you extra if that other chair you forgot to mention is not on the inventory list. This is what can cost you a lot extra as well. So make sure you plan ahead and prepare for your move. This is your best protection from causing you to be charged extra later on. Also provide the company with information on parking and with any permits required if possible or if this is an issue in your town.
