The safest route will be to contact the Town Hall at least 6 months before your wedding date to confirm availability on the date. On your day of arrival or the day after an appointment is arranged with the Town Hall by your wedding planner; this is for the wedding officer at the Town Hall to meet you and go through the whole ceremony, check that the original documents are in order and pay the civil ceremony fee.

Even though it might seem a bit complicated it is actually very simple procedure as soon as all the documents have been verified and validated. The good news is that the ceremony will be performed in English.

As before, you should allow plenty of time before your day of arrival, so that you can get permission to marry in church and to ensure availability on your chosen date.

Don't forget that if you apply for a Special License to marry, you only have to be in residence for three working days before you marry; if you apply for a Normal License, then you will have had to have been in residence for 15 working days.
