We spend a lot of time being nice to our customers. Why not, it's how we have been taught to behave towards our customers. Treat them with respect, massage their egos and they will reward us with their business. So we carefully craft our newsletters, and adverts, emails and websites to keep them happy, and on our side.
Then suddenly something comes along which turns this on its head. If you missed "The Rich Jerk" then you must have had your head in the sand, it was big news. This guy insulted his website visitors. He put them down, and told them he was better than them and had no time for them. Then they went and bought his product. And how. It sold in droves, but why did the people he insulted buy his book, and why did those same people keep telling the people they knew to go there?
It was a masterpiece in marketing psychology. The very fact it was so demeaning and insulting to the visitors meant it got talked about. The site created that elusive marketers dream, "A BUZZ". It also had a "whodunnit" factor for a while as no-one seemed to know who was behind this mocking salespage. Everywhere you looked people were discussing it, why it would fail, why they wouldn't buy from such a boastful seller, what were his credentials, and many other topics were debated.
All this discussion caused the site to gain ever more visitors as more people went to see what the "buzz" was all about. While they were there they would get curious as to what they could learn from this "Rich Jerk" and buy the ebook to see. The book was a good one too, and created even more discussion as people told others their mini reviews of it. It also had an affiliate program, so you could go on to promote it to earn commissions.
Back to the subject, the Rich Jerk promotion worked to sell ebooks by not being nice. It caused a stir, and made people sit up and take notice by breaking the rules. So we have learned that being nice isn't the only way to make sales, done correctly you can treat people like dirt and they will still buy from you, and tell others to buy too. Not only that, but I bet being the bad guy was a lot of fun for the Rich Jerk too, don't you?
Best Way To Win
Email Marketing is a very profitable way to make an income online. Although it is a strange game and can be very frustrating at times, there is a lot of wealth that can be made if you use it the right way. I am going to discuss how to create email marketing campaigns that make money, for those of use that build our own lists and not necessarily for those that like to purchase or rent lists.
I do not agree with buying or renting lists because it is a waste plus you never know when you will be accused of spamming. Stick with building your own list and you will see better results. So onto the article.
If you want to start creating email marketing campaings that make money you need to first start building a list. This is a very easy thing to do if you already have a website and an autoresponder.
The autoresponder should have a web form you can create from their website. When you put this code into your website you will either get a block of text with a form that will allow someone to subscribe to your list, a popup, or an exit popup depending on what options you chose.
Then, when someone signs up for your list they will be put into your database with your autoresponder. You can create as many messages as you want in your autoresponder to automatically be sent to your new subscribers. Once it is created your work is done.
The next thing you need to do is realize that you cannot over promote to your members. Three messages a week maximum is a good rule of thumb, unless you are giving away a free 8 day courseor something like that.
The last thing you have to realize is that if you continually promote to your members without providing any real content for them you will lose readers very quickly and end up losing subscribers. You have to give them some content.
It is simple to give them content anyway. Just go to a free article directory and search for a related article or two a week to suggest that they read. You could also give them a free eBook download as well.
Whatever you decide to do, remember these tricks and you will have better luck at making more wealth when you create email marketing campaigns. The money truly is in the list so start building yours today and by this time next month you should have a very large list to market to.
