But, that's actually a big problem. Because they have only ever put their skills to the test in the classroom, in practical assignments and so forth, they don't actually have what employers are looking for. Employers want experience; they want to see that the applicant can actually perform the job for which they are applying. Of course, the better students and those with the right 'contacts' will have more chance of successfully gaining employment in their chosen field; but what about the rest of the graduates?
Too many graduates end up either unemployed or in a position for which they are over-qualified. It's not because they can't do their chosen profession, but because they don't have the practical experience to prove to employers that they can! Many employers are cautious about employing graduates straight from university; some even refuse point-blank to consider a newly graduated applicant.
How do you gain experience if you can't get a job? It's a question asked by people looking for work on a regular basis. This also applies to a lot of unemployed people, they can do the job that they apply for or why bother applying in the first place? Experience, experience and experience! If you have none, then you may as well consider flipping burgers for a living, and even that probably requires experience nowadays!
So how can Trade @ Favour help you to get out of the 'experience' trap? Quite simply, you use your skills to help others. Satisfactory or brilliant work will gain you references from the people who you help. Not only that, another thing that employers like to see on a Curriculum Vitae (C.V.) is 'voluntary work' and sharing your skills through Trade @ Favour is voluntary. Nobody forces you to help someone else, it is entirely your choice; i.e. you volunteer your services.
Your C.V. will show recent practical experience in your chosen field; it will show employers that you are capable of performing the job for which you are applying and it will have been voluntary! You will have references for your work; you'll be able to give employers what they are looking for and they'll be able to see what you have to offer. Because it's voluntary, you'll be giving employers another reason to consider you for the position; you will have shown that you want to work!
You'll have kept your skills up-to-date; you'll have put into practice what you have learnt and you will have chosen to do it. You will show employers willingness to work and evidence of your abilities; and employers will be impressed! Your employment prospects will be enhanced and your confidence in yourself and your abilities will be too. Confidence is also another factor that employers like to see in potential employees. Not arrogance or over confidence, but genuine faith in your own abilities and you will gain that by using your skills.
Not only will you enhance your employment prospects through Trade @ Favour, but you will meet new people, make new friends and expand your social and professional networks. You will improve yourself, your life and you will feel good about you!
