The BlackBerry 8100 Pearl is a great multi media and communication device featuring an awesome lay out and design, huge screen, and it comes in almost every color imaginable. The Blackberry is a very popular device and it is pretty much known about by every one by its email system that allows users to email each other endlessly, the phone also includes instant message clients and sms and mms messages. The phone also allows you to browse the web no matter where you are so you can always stay informed or in the know.
The BlackBerry 8100 also features a key board that is perfectly laid out for writing email on the fly and texting your friends, the phone does not have the keys well spaced apart like some other phones but for this kind of style the phone features a reasonably user friendly key board. The phone also features a pretty basic and standard one point three mega pixel camera with flash and zoom, the picture quality is not great but it is enough to get the job done.
Also included with the BlackBerry 8100 Pearl are global positioning system capabilities so you can always find out where you are and where you need to go, with high quality maps and directions. The thing that we would have liked to see with the phone is that the keys where a little more spaced out the way it is presently set up it leaves room for a lot of error and mistakes well using the key pad, also the camera could have been upgraded a little bit on this expensive of a phone, but then again it is a phone not a digital camera.

Looks like blackberry has finally realised that their 'all encompassing business phones' should also extend hands towards the general customer as well. Thus, Blackberry launched its Blackberry 8100 to appease not only the genre of business men but also the students and their parents. The phone embodies all the advantages of a typical blackberry device, and only comes in a more compact package, with enhanced multimedia feature packed into it.
Blackberry 8100 alias 'Pearl' is a style icon. The phone is garbed with piano black gloss finish, with the sides covered in a dark silver / pewter coloured metal finish. The colour combination is played wisely upon, so, despite the two extra columns of keys, the Blackberry 8100 looks quite compact. Blackberry 8100 measures only 107 mm x 50 mm x 15mm in size. The phone also has an innovative trackball – suggestive of the name pearl. The Pearl's backlit trackball provides a good feel, and is easily spun in any direction for navigation.
What makes Blackberry 8100 different from the other mobiles in the genre is its enhanced multimedia capability. The phone comes with a support for playing audio and video, and a camera. The Mp3 is neat and can play most of the tracks. With that, it also has the option for downloading and storing more music. The video quality is quite good, though the device falls a little short of expectations on handling heavy MPEG -4 videos. The 1.3 Megapixels camera comes with a built-in flash and digital zoom.
Riding on T-Mobile's EDGE network, the Blackberry 8100 delivers satisfactory data connection. It supports quad-band GSM/GPRS networks and offer Bluetooth as well. Blackberry 8100's organisational options are diverse. Desktop Manager can sync contacts, calendars, memos, and tasks with Outlook, Outlook Express, Lotus Notes and Organizer, Novell Groupwise and Sage ACT! software. Access to the internet is hassle free and smooth.
Blackberry 8100 is indeed one of the choicest smartphones in the market. It is also a strong performer to boot.
