I am a gadget addict. Unfortunately it doesn't end with gadgets. I have so many programs that I've downloaded and tried on my computer only to never use again, that I needed an additional 120 Gigabyte hard drive upon which I can test my new goodies to weed out the good from the bad. Of course with my addiction combined with my lack of impulse control I've tried numerous tools and such for my blogging pleasure and occasional displeasure. I will discuss some of the truly wonderful blogging tools I've discovered in the process below.
Qumana. This is a free program that allows you to post to multiple blogs effortlessly in addition to inserting photos, spell check (a gift from the heavens itself), tagging your blog posts, and editing your blot to make it more visually appealing to the traffic that you will be receiving. You can even insert ads that are appropriate to your content through this service. It is very well worth the download and at free, the price is nice also.
WebSnapr offers a free service, which allows you to capture a snapshot of almost any website almost effortlessly. For bloggers who want to give proper credit to the websites to which they are referring this is an invaluable tool, particularly for those instances where a picture truly is worth a thousand words.
Feedburner. This service allows you to maximize your blog in so many ways. Not only will it help you get the publicity your blog deserves by creating an easy way for people to subscribe, it also optimizes the distribution process so that subscribers are able to view your blog as they need to according to their subscription services. Additionally, Feedburner gives you a little information about your subscribers that may provide useful in determining which advertising efforts are providing the greatest payout.
Movable Type is more than a blogging tool it is also a blogging platform. However, this is one of the best. They have outstanding support for their paying subscribers that for many is worth every penny. They also offer features that are unlike other free blogging platforms and are constantly working to upgrade and improve their services for their subscribers. While some of the best things in life are free, you sometimes get what you pay for too. This is definitely one of those times.
The important thing to remember when checking out blogging tools is to find those that appeal most to you and that you feel will most directly affect your ability to earn income or gain enjoyment for your blogging experience. I will warn you that just as blogging is addictive (if you don't believe me, ask around and see how many people have just one blog), playing with blog tools is equally addictive. There are so many different and wonderful tools out there that will appeal to different bloggers on different levels. For some those tools that generate keywords that are often neglected and underutilized are the most highly prized and demanded tools on the market. Find the tools you feel you can't live without and go with those. Just be sure to have fun playing with them all.
