Body Contouring Plastic Surgery

    View:
There are often common misperceptions about many of today's cosmetic procedures and treatments that seem to flood the market. Many of these treatments are very effective and valuable treatment options for patients seeking the services of cosmetic surgery. However, many patients confuse the uses of each treatment and mistake their own candidacy for these treatments.

One such procedure that is often misunderstood is liposuction. Commonly thought of as a quick weight loss solution for overweight and obese individuals, it is actually no such thing. It is best described as a body contouring treatment, used primarily for those patients with isolated, localized pockets of fat or fatty cells. Those searching for weight loss solutions should consult their physician for other options, steering clear from this cosmetic surgical procedure, as it is not intended to be used as the treatment many mistake it for. Liposuction can, however, be a viable and very valuable option for those looking to rid themselves of embarrassing pockets of localized fat. Some areas do not respond well to exercise and may be tougher to shape than other areas of one's body. This is where liposuction comes into play as an effective option in removing these unwanted fat pockets to help patients look and feel their best.

Liposuction is usually performed using a general anesthetic or a localized anesthetic if the area is small enough and need be. Surgeons should place incisions in the least conspicuous places to maintain the cosmetic nature of the procedure. After all, most would consider trading pockets of fat for noticeable, unsightly scarring a push. Using a device called a ‘cannula', surgeons remove the unwanted fat from the patient's body and damage the remaining fat cells. The body then removes or repairs these remaining, damaged fat cells, often taking weeks to complete. It should be pointed out that removing an excess of fat in one area might cause dents to appear in the patient's body. That is why the surgeon should remove only the top layer of fat during surgery.

Plastic surgery has become very popular over the past couple of decades and indications are that the trend will continue. Liposuction, many may be surprised to learn, is the most commonly performed cosmetic procedure in the United States, thus indicating the importance of this procedure for many Americans. As is true with many things in life and in medicine, communication can help to solve many problems. The surgeon and the patient should be on the same page about the procedure and the responsibilities the procedure brings to the patient. As mentioned previously, this procedure is not meant to be a weight loss solution, but as a body contouring option. Healthy individuals are the best candidates and maintaining a health lifestyle is important after the procedure is performed. All of the patient's previous medical history and complications faced in the past should be disclosed so that the physician can better serve and treat the patient in a safe and reliable manner. As with any medical procedure, certain risks are inherent. Discussing all possible complications and risks prior to the procedure is wise, as it allows the patient to fully understand the treatment and all of the responsibilities that go along with it.

Lipodissolve refers to a nonsurgical method of body contouring as an alternative to minor Liposculpture. Injections are based on a mixture of four standard medications that are administered directly into the fat to initiate the breakdown of fat accumulation. This process happens over a period of weeks as the body works to break down the fat and eliminate by natural means.

This non surgical method originates from Europe and was developed further in the United States and Latin America.

The main component of is Phosphatidylcholine, which is a natural compound produced from the Soya bean. The body uses the same substance in a number of chemical pathways, including fat metabolism.

To ensure a smooth reduction of the fat deposit, it is important to achieve the adequate and necessary concentration of Phosphatidylcholine in every part of the treated area, thus requiring a specific multi- injection technique.

The amounts of Phosphatidylcholine injected into one fat deposit range between 4 ml and 80 ml per application according to your individual needs.

Both women and men who have pockets or areas of stubborn fat that is concentrated particularly in areas such as double chin, abdomen, pecks, "love handles", thighs and legs can benefit.

Fat dissolving treatments should not be regarded as a new miracle drug for weight reduction. However, in the case of fat deposits which can not easily be removed by diet or exercise, then these treatments help the natural metabolic process during which fat is melted away and then eliminated from the body. This is achieved by the medication being directly injected into the area concerned.

It is generally recommended for women to avoid therapy during their monthly cycle. The therapy can become uncomfortable and can increase bruising.

The absolute contraindications of fat reducing treatment include patient's age under 18 years, pregnant women, nursing mothers, certain diabetic patients with, and patients with current infections, or suffering from severe immune deficiency disorders. You must declare any of these to your doctor.

During the initial consultation you may be asked to point out exactly what you would like to see improved. This will help the doctor understand your expectations and determine whether they can realistically be achieved with this treatment.

You will be asked about your medical history including previous operations, past and present medical conditions and current medications. In order to provide you with the best information and safest options, it is important that you give your surgeon complete information.

The surgeon may examine the area of concern while you are standing as well as lying down. He will also evaluate the amount of excess fat in those areas to determine how much Phosphatidylcholine will be required for optimal results.

Pre treatment photographs may be taken during your initial consultation or at a subsequent visit. Your surgeon will discuss with you the details of the treatment and answer any questions you may have regarding this treatment.

Prior to the treatment the surgeon will explain the procedure plan, which will include where the injections will be made as well as how many injections you will need before he commences.

Because of individual factors, not everyone will achieve the same results from Lipodissolve. The surgeon will select the estimated amount of Phosphatidylcholine he feels will obtain the best outcome for you. There will be no marks left at the injection points and there will be no visible signs of the treatment.

The procedure takes between 15min to 1 hour, depending on how many areas you are having treated per session.

The number of treatments differs from person to person, depending upon body region and body size. As a rule, 2-4 treatments in intervals of 6-8 weeks apart are necessary to successfully complete the treatment and produce the best results.

The effect of the treatment session becomes apparent after about 6-8 weeks as the active ingredients works on breaking down the fat cells in the injected area.

You can resume normal activity as usually and there are no special requirements after this procedure. You may continue to experience some mild discomfort and swelling during this time, but such feelings are normal for 1-3 days.

Avoid heat, sauna, sunbathing after therapy for one week.

The treatment has proven to be effective, with over 95% success rate with very few risks or side effects. Over dosage or intoxications have not become known to occur. Long-term follow-up of patients treated with Phosphatidylcholine injections to reduce local fat deposits indicate that the reduction of fat deposits is permanent, provided weight gain is low or none.

Fortunately, significant complications are infrequent. There is only slight discomfort and swelling and this will subside after 1-3 days. You can help to minimize these symptoms by using ice packs.
