Breast Cancer Signs And Symptoms

    View:
Although a lot of symptoms have been given for breast cancer, it is noted that breast cancer can come with a different sign and symptoms in some people. So the best way of detecting breast cancer is by knowing your breast and being aware of the slightest changes that occur, be it in size, shape or feel.

Radiation therapy can be used to treat breast cancer. This therapy involves the sending of gamma rays to the affected region. This ray will destroy the growth of the cancerous cell within the breast. This is an option that can save the breast from being removed totally. It has proved very effective to a lot of women. It might to you too ? so stay open and be positive that you will be saved... and you will be!

It doesn't matter whether breast cancer has affected your mother and grandmother and they both died from it, you don't have to die from it too. You see, modern science has advanced so strongly that the diseases that used to kill people in the past no longer kill. If your breast cancer is discovered very early on, you can be sure you won't die. So, always ensure you examine your breasts for any signs of tumor. That can save your life.

As strange as it may sound, men are also susceptible to breast cancer. Although it is not common, breast cancer has been diagnosed in men, mostly the sexagenarians. Therefore as a man, you shouldn't feel exempted from the fringes of breast cancer, constantly examine yourself and make appointments with your doctor at the first signs of abnormalities.

Radiation therapy is sometimes used to treat breast cancer. This involves the use of laser rays to destroy cancerous cells. The rays can be sent from a machine outside the body or from a radioisotope placed within the breast where the cancer cells are found.

Small cells cancer is the type of breast cancer that characterized small tumor cells. These small cells develop rapidly and can spread pretty quickly over the breast and nearby regions. This has further emphasized the need for clinical breast cancer examination.

The chances of treating breast cancer in women are proportional to their age. Younger women can actually receive strong treatment and be able to live and overcome the side effects of such treatment, whereas the older ones may develop more complications from received treatments for breast cancer. The earlier breast cancer is detected the better the chances of treating it.

A lot of success have been recorded in the treatment of breast cancer. But the attitude of the patient will also contribute to the success of the treatment. The patient has to be strong and show willingness to recover from this deadly disease. The body has a strong healing power that can play important role in healing when the patient also fights the present disease.

Breast cancer is believed to be related to level and production of some hormones in the body. If this is true, then receiving hormone therapy can cause a hormonal imbalance that can cause breast cancer. However hormone therapy can be necessary for the treatment of other ailments such as depression, in such cases, you should ensure that you receive this therapy from a professional and not just any medical practitioner.

The adopted treatment mode for breast cancer depends on the stage of the cancer in question. Lumpectomy surgery is possible if the cancer is detected early enough and has not grown past just being a lump. This lump will be removed surgically and some medications will be administered to help you heal.

The size of your breast does not increase or reduce your chances of having breast cancer. The rumor that ladies with bigger breast are more prone to breast cancer cannot be more wrong. The size of your breast has totally nothing to do with the chances of having breast cancer. Do not be led into a state of paranoia by these rumors.

Breast cancer is usually associated with lumpy feel within the breast. But not all breast cancer is characterized by lumps. An example of non-lumpy breast cancer is the inflammatory breast cancer. However inflammatory breast cancer is not common thus a lot of people are not familiar with the disease, last year it only recorded about 3% of the total diagnosed breast cancer.

Self examination for breast cancer is advised to be done at a regular periods of the month. Abnormalities to check for include lumps or thickening of tissues around the breasts, pains and discharges from the breasts. If any is discovered visit your doctor and have him conduct a clinical breast cancer examination.

A lot of people believe that it is impossible for men to develop breast cancer. What they don't know is that no matter how undeveloped the man's breast is, it still has its own tissues. These tissues as well can develop malignant cell growth causing breast cancer. So as a man, you need to also pay attention to information on breast cancer as you are not exactly free from it.

Pinpointing the exact cause of breast cancer is no longer a priority as it has been noted that different people's cancer is caused by different free radicals in the body. However some risk factors has been established like excessive amount of estrogen and alcohol contained in blood, too much fat deposit and also hormone therapy known to cause an imbalance in the body's hormonal balance. Taking note of these risk factors can help you steer clear of breast cancer.
Breast Cancer Signs And Symptoms
There are no outward symptoms related to early breast cancer. There are no warnings, and no pain. The only way to detect breast cancer in the preliminary stage is by finding an abnormality or a lump. Mostly this happens through breast self-examinations, or as a result of a yearly mammogram.

Of course, most breast lumps are not cancerous. But it is still imperative to immediately have the lump examined by a doctor.

For some women, breast cancer initially presents as a bump under the arm or above the collarbone that doesn't go away. As the disease progresses, other symptoms will appear such as nipple inversion or discharge, or changes to the skin and surface of the breast.

Discharge from the breast is quite common and is rarely a symptom of cancer. However, if there is blood in the discharge, or if it happens in only one breast, then a physician would be more concerned. Nipple inversion is also very common, but if it occurs suddenly, it should also be brought to the attention of your doctor.

Swelling or redness in the breast may be an indication of an infection present in the breast tissue. Any infections, regardless of the type or cause, should be treated promptly. See your doctor right away if you notice redness, swelling or severe pain in your breast, in your armpit, or under your shoulder.

Sometime a change in skin, such as textural changes or puckering, can appear alongside breast cancer. Of course, many other diseases can also cause these effects, so it is valuable to eliminate the possibility of breast cancer by having an exam by a doctor.

Breast cancer can take months or even years to develop. Once diagnosed, it's crucial to begin treatment immediately, as it is much more difficult to treat cancer once it has begun to spread throughout the body in what is called metastastic spread.

Mammogram tests can often detect the earliest signs of breast cancer. Once per year women over 40 should have this test done, which involves an electronic scan of the breast tissue. If anything abnormal is found, don't panic; rather, set up an appointment immediately with your doctor to do further evaluation, and perhaps to set your mind at ease.

Ultrasolography and physical examinations are the other two methods for detecting abnormalities. Physical exams should include visual inspection as well as gentle physical pressure or palpitation. Each exam will also check the collarbone area and the armpits. You can ask your health care provider how to do this yourself, and there are books and videos widely available to help. Or your provider can do it for you, by palpating for a lump or thickening of the skin in the breast area. Finally, the most definitive method for diagnosis is to examine a small number of breast cells directly. A biopsy can remove a tiny piece of the lump and a specialist will examine it in a laboratory.

All women must be made aware of the most common breast cancer symptoms:

* A lump or lumps under the arm, in the breast, or above the collarbone that persists for more than a week

* Nipple discharge

* Nipple inversion or similar changes in the nipple

* Changes to the skin surface of the breast

During your regular self-examinations, if you find any of these symptoms, don't take a chance, but see your doctor as soon as you can to determine if what you have found requires treatment.
