Breast Implant Before And After

    View:
Undergoing breast augmentation will require a lifetime of aftercare commitment and preparation and plan for the unexpected. You have modified your body, and therefore you will need to make some additional modifications to your lifestyle. After having a breast augmentation, you must accept the fact that you will be subjected to more risks as a result. Ruptures, capsular contraction, implant shifting and rippling are all issues that you should be informed about and recognize.

You will also experience more difficulties when having regular mammograms. Although you will not be required to receive mammograms more frequently than women with natural breasts, there are some things you need to know for your checkup.

The first and most important rule for mammograms after receiving breast implants is to inform the technician before the test. Implants are not transparent when x-rayed, which means they will obscure the surrounding tissue, making results difficult to read. This is true for both saline and silicone implants and placement of it above the pectoral muscle will further impede the readings.

So what can you do to ensure you receive the most accurate reading? Take the time to research radiologists who are experienced giving mammograms to women with implants. A technician who has not dealt with many breast augmentations might make misdiagnoses, and cancer going undetected is the last thing you want. And although rare, an unskilled technician might cause your implant to rupture under the pressure put on the breast during screening.

Since it is more difficult to read the x-rays, it is imperative that you do not miss your regularly scheduled mammograms. Even the most skilled radiologists can make mistakes.

In between visits, it is also important to perform regular self-breast exams every month and ideally three days after your menstrual cycle if you are still ovulating. The first step is to stand in front of a mirror and examine the exterior of your busts. Check for any discoloration, abnormal marks, bumps, and dents. Raise your arms above your head and take note of any changes to the sides of your busts and underneath your arm. With one arm raised over your head, check each breast individually with your fingertips, gently putting pressure on your busts as you move clockwise all the way around. Make another clockwise motion inwards towards your nipple, ensuring that you have covered the entirety of both busts.

The next step is to lie flat on your back, raise an arm above your head, and repeat the previous motion you performed while standing up, noting any lumps or tender points. If you do notice anything abnormal, see your physician immediately.

Another precaution to consider in your aftercare regime is receiving MRI scans. Mammograms cannot always detect ruptures in implants; however, MRIs will usually catch leaks, if any. Although not necessary, if you fear your enhancement device may leak, or you have had your implants for ten years or more, the occasional scan is a good idea as an early preventative measure.

Keeping on top of mammograms and regular bust examinations will ensure early detection of problems. Although breast implants are not proven to pose any cancer risks, you will have to take some extra precaution in order to get accurate diagnoses.
Breast Implant Before And After
To achieve the desired bust size and shape, many women around the world consider breast implants as they are dissatisfied with their present appearance. Many young women, who are considering breast augmentation surgery, do not realize that breast implants are not meant to last a lifetime. In fact, nearly one third of women who have had them installed had to undergo second surgery within the first four or five years post enhancement surgery for replacement or fixing of issues directly related to the implant.

The standard belief among medical professionals today is that implants, both silicone and saline models, have a lifespan of about ten years in the human body. This means that even if you are one of the fortunate groups of two-thirds of women who do not need to have surgery within four or five years, you likely will have to be in the operation room table again in about ten years to have your implants replaced.

Cost Considerations of Breast Enhancement

While you may be looking at the initial cost of your breast augmentation surgery, you should also be looking at your lifetime costs. Some of these costs include regular screening exams like MRIs to look for leaking and defective devices and also the costs of additional surgeries as time passes. Because breast augmentation surgery is generally elective, most of these costs will not be covered by your medical insurance here in the United States. Surgeries to correct bust size and volume affected by mastectomy or birth defects can acquire some financial help in cases. And, as time passes they will also become more and more expensive for you to pay for, out of your own pocket. Check if your clinic offers installment payment options as an alternative.

Breast Augmentation is the Number 1 Cosmetic Surgery of Today

With breast enhancement surgery being the number one cosmetic surgery procedure performed today, there are legions of women for whom multiple surgical procedures will be necessary over their lifetime. This is a fact which has recently caused the medical community to stand-up and notice, wondering if all of those follow-up surgeries are doing more harm than good for women. It is always advisable and recommended to get the augmentation procedures performed by a board certified experienced and skilled surgeon to avoid any complications and risks associated with the surgical process.

Talk to Your Plastic Surgeon about Upkeep Issues

One of the best things you can do for yourself is to talk with your Board Certified Plastic Surgeon about breast implant upkeep issues they are seeing in their existing patients. Ask your plastic surgeon how long your implants are likely to last. Additionally, ask your physician what tests and other procedures they foresee you having to pay for over the life of your enhancement activities. If your plastic surgeon is experienced, then they should have the answers to these questions.

With about 33% chances of requirement to have additional surgical procedures within five years, deciding to have breast enhancement surgery should be something you are positive you want to do, and something that you have the funds to support over the long-haul.
