Isn't it great to be working on a brand new computer? Everything is super fast and super responsive. You feel like the efficiency of your work is ten fold. Well the exact opposite can be true after computing on it for even a few months. The registry can get corrupted, unused programs and files clutter the hard drive, temporary internet files start adding up, spyware gets installed under the radar, the list goes on. So many things can add up and before you know it your brand new machine is locking up. A few simple tips can keep that computer flying like new.
A quick an easy one is to delete those temporary internet files, IE users need only click on tools>internet options ? and then "delete files" under temporary internet files.
Also uninstall any software that you do not use any more. The best way is through start>settings>control panel and then "add or remove programs"
Another easy one is to keep your hard drive "defragged" A hard drive's data can get fragmented or separated along the drive. "Defragging" will bring your data back in a more orderly fashion allowing the drive to call it up quicker. Click on start>programs>accessories>system tools>disk defragmenter
Before long after many installs, uninstalls, and reinstalls your registry (pretty much the backbone of your operating system) can become corrupt. You should definitely keep this clean. There are many tools out there to do this.
Spyware/adware is another major character to blame for slowness or internet surfing problems. Again a good piece of software to clean these issues up is recommended. This is most likely separate from your normal virus scan software so definitely make sure both are up to date.
Installing more RAM is the cheapest way to bring some life back to an older computer. RAM or Random Access Memory is your computers short term memory. This memory holds your word document or email before it is actually saved to the hard drive or sent to the recipient. Very easy to install, pretty cheap these days, and you will definitely see some performance with that simple upgrade. Email me if you need help.
Well that's just a few tips that I run through when I get the dreaded phone call "My computer keeps locking up and is running very slow!" But that is why I am slowly teaching my family and friends, to hopefully cut down on the support calls! :)
Bring Back To Life
All cigars dry up after a certain period of time if not cared for. Same law applies to Cuban cigars. Lets say you got a box of Cuban cigars, placed it in your house and went for a business trip. Once you come back, you realize that you forgot about your little beauties and when you run back to that secret place your find out that your Cuban cigars are literally dying.
Although you did place them in a humidor like a good boy, you didn't re-energize your humidor that is essential for your cigars to stay in good shape. You realize all you have is a bunch of dried out cigars. You begin to wonder if your cigars will every be smokable again.
Lucky for you, their are several ways of bringing your cigars back from the dead. The idea is to hydrate your cigars back to life. You have to be really careful here because too much moisture can definitely expand your cigars to the max. The worst case scenario is that you finally decided to rehydrate your Cuban cigars but it was just not good enough and your Cuban cigars are gone to a better place. See just like everything in life has an expiration date, so do Cuban cigars. Once you get them, smoke them and you should worry about it ever again. Or if you want to share it with your friends than go get a portable humidor and take it with you. Forgetting about Cuban cigars in this way is no excuse at all.
A fast way to get the right amount of moisture in your cigar is to put it in a plastic bag with some cedar linings out of a cigar box. You know those thin sheets on top of each cigar box, those cedar sheets. Leave the bag sealed for a few days and run a check to see how hydrated they've become. Don't get too excited as this is not the cure for Cuban cigars left in the dark for quite sometime, but this will definitely get the ball rolling.
If they are totally dried out, than don't worry. Try the method of using Tupperware container (Make sure the base of this container is flat) where you put some water at the bottom and place the cigar on top of cedar sticks. Make sure the water never touches the Cuban cigars or your precious beauties will be destroyed. Cuban cigars can stay fresh for up to 15 years so be patient when you are doing this process.
So get that humidor recharged and place that container sealed up in the humidor. This will bring your cigars back to life in four weeks or so. Keep an eye on your humidor because if its not charged properly it won't work. Give it the time and your cigars should be ready to smoke again.
