Though these batteries are more expensive, they have twice the power density than NiCAD and their self discharge rate is very low. However, NiMH batteries are compatible with most planes and are easier to maintain.
But even with the best batteries around, you need a good charger. The quality of chargers varies and it depends on how much money you are willing to spend to buy them. If you don't fly often, then you can get a less expensive charger that takes a longer time to charge. But, if you are a regular flyer, then get a more expensive charger that will take less time to charge, but offer longer flying time for your plane.
