A successful SEO campaign depends on a few factors. The SEO expert must take into account internal page factors, external page factors (back links), and the overall quality of the entire site. Leave one of these three factors out, and it may jepardize the chances of success for the SEO campaign. Very briefly, we'll talk about internal page factors and the overall quality of the site, as it'll take a whole book to cover these topics. For sure, it's beyond the scope of this article.
For internal pages, make sure that the keywords are in the title tags and if possible, in the URL as well. URLs should ideally be static and not more than a hundred characters long. Static URLs means your page should be named something like yourpage.html instead of somepage.php?your_page_id. Use meta tags to include the keywords and describe your pages. The search engines still read these tags to determine what the page is all about. Also, remember to include a sitemap so that search engines can crawl your entire site and index all the pages.
For overall site quality, make sure that you have a unique design. Avoid downloading a free content management system and immediate launch the site with the default template. Your site will probably look the same as hundreds of other sites out there. Also, ensure that your site has a steady stream of useful content posted to the site regularly. Content can be posted by you or user generated. User generated content includes forum posts, blog comments, file uploads and so on. They're generated mainly by the visitors of your site. But it's your job to ensure that only useful content is uploaded to the site.
For the above two factors that I've just mentioned, they are easy to implement because you have a large degree of control over how you want to run your site since you own it. The third factor is the most difficult to implement, and that consists of getting relevant and quality back links on a consistent basis. Back links are links found on external websites. Another blogger linking back to you is considered a back link. The more back links you have, the higher chances of success you'll have with your SEO campaign.
To make things more difficult, search engines pay attention to what the external links are saying about your site. For example, if a link with the anchor texts say "pets", the search engines will assume that the page or site in the link is one about pets. If it says something like "gardening", then the page should be about gardening. At least that's how the search engines work. By the way, this works the same way for internal links as well, so you should never use words link "home" or "click here" as your anchor texts.
But the good news is, there is a way to build quality back links fairly quickly with your desired anchor texts in them. And that is submitting your links to high quality web directories. These web directories will approve your links and link to your sites with your keywords as the anchor texts. With thousands of quality web directories out there, no wonder SEO experts are rushing to get their links approved.
So learn how to choose quality web directories to submit your links to, and boost the success rate of your SEO campaign.
