Business coaching and human resource management (HRM) are two growing fields that are helpful for many business men and women. Each provides unique benefits for a beginning or experienced business person. It is also important to know what to expect from each and (for those with an interest) how to become a business coach.
Let's start by examining the advantages of hiring business coaches. These are people who are skilled and experienced in assisting companies or individuals achieve greater profits and productivity. Coaching works by helping certain people within an organization improve their management strategies and build better business relationships.
HRM is the study of how companies use their employees. Different management styles are a key part of human resource management, as are allocation of resources to ensure successful projects, avoiding overworking employees, and ensuring that inactive projects are not consuming the work of your best workers. Human resource management can save companies millions of dollars each year, and help companies land an retain their best and most productive employees.
In which way does business coaching bring about good human resource management and increase productivity? Different business coaches have different methods, and each method has its own merits and downfalls. When choosing a business coach, it is important to ask about the methods a prospective coach employs, and to evaluate whether those methods are in line with goals for your
While it would be impossible to comprehensively list these methods in one short article you can count on coaches evaluating your organization's strengths and weaknesses and focusing on building up the strengths of the company. Difficulties such as allocating human resources and poor client relations can be remedied by business coaching that will assist in human resource management and increasing levels of client satisfaction.
After taking into account, or even undergoing business coaching, you might consider becoming a business coach. Many organizations, colleges, and universities offer courses and certificates that will give you the resources to become a coach. There are even advanced degrees in some areas that focus on human resource management. This education will give you the skills and connections so that you can build an effective coaching activity.
Should your organization or yourself feel that outside input is needed, a business coach may be helpful for you. These coaches can help you increase income or decrease costs while helping you effectively manage your human resources. Accepting this outside help can be costly, but in the end, good coaching will increase your entries.
Business Men And Women
Many business women that I know place a higher value on their business relationships then men, and often place a greater emphasis on family, security and work life balance. They tend to reach their comfort zone a lot quicker once the business is generating a decent income and then subconsciously apply the brakes to future growth.
Males on the other hand tend to a lot more ambitious and place a greater emphasis on power. Some of them would do anything to get ahead including hurting their business colleagues and friends. They also tend to take more risks once their existing business is generating a decent income.
In analysing my business friends, I have also come to the conclusion that males are much more likely to choose a business model purely based on potential return than their female counterparts. The business women that I know have tended to mainly look at business niches that they find appealing first, and then think carefully about how they could make money in that niche.
Now before you accuse me of sexism, let me make it clear that the above points are generally true of the business people that I know. I also know a few business men and women that do not fit into the pigeon holes described above.
Another interesting fact that I have observed is that woman are much more likely to seek advice from their peers and take more time before making big business decisions. Men are much more likely to be impulsive when taking risks, often making large decisions on the spot.
Could the reason for this be due to the fact that women are generally the nurturers of children in our society and therefore are forced to take fewer risks and place greater emphasis on security?
I remember reading an article in a newspaper that claimed that women with higher testosterone levels than average were much more likely to enter the business world and place less emphasis on family life.
Summary
Women that I know tend to have different reasons for starting their business then men. They place greater emphasis on family life, security and also tend to enter fields that are appealing to them.
Men tend to place greater emphasis on profit potential and their desire for profits often goes hand in hand with their desire to be powerful. Men are much more likely to sacrifice their family life to achieve more in the business world.
Women tend to apply the brakes earlier then men once they have reached their comfort zone, whilst men are much more likely to take risks so that they can drive their business forward to greater heights.
I believe that this is the main reason why some of my male business friends have achieved so much more and could also explain why I know more male bankrupts then female!
