When buying from wholesalers, you usually come in contact with two different types. The first type of wholesaler may require you to apply for a reseller license. That means you probably pay a small fee to join as a reseller. In return, you get to enjoy special discounts that are only available to qualified resellers. However, to remain as qualified resellers, distributors and retailers may have to meet specific sales target.

The other type of wholesaler offers discounts to the public. In other words, anyone can enjoy the discounts with no strings attached. This type of arrangement is perfect for distributors and retailers who prefer flexibility. Since there are no special regulations, you can opt to buy and sell the quantity of lingerie that you are comfortable with.

When you buy and resell, you enjoy several benefits. Firstly, there is no need to worry about inventory. You bring in sufficient stock based on your anticipated demand. So you never have to worry about having to store the excess that you produce.

Secondly, you can widen your range of products very quickly. For example, with a week or so, you can have huge teddies, bikinis, corsets, sexy pajamas, etc. within your range of clothing. Thirdly, you never have to worry about styles and designs. Coming up with designs can be a time consuming affair. You may have to work with designers and perfect the styles. When you are buying off the rack, you can simply browse the designs that are available. As a seasoned retailer, you should be able to tell at a glance the type of designs that will sell (or not). Simply pick the products based on your judgment.

If you are just starting out, you may wish to buy lingerie with many different designs and then try to resell them. In the beginning, buy smaller numbers. The goal is to allow yourself time to learn more about your customers. Once you have more confidence on the type of lingerie that will sell, start placing larger orders.

When working with a wholesaler, be sure to spend a little time to build up the relationship. A wholesaler is a supplier of products. Without a good relationship with your existing suppliers, you may face difficulty when you want to top up your inventory.

The ideal situation is when you have such a good relationship with your supplier that the transactions are based mostly on trust. For instance, when you place an order (no matter how small) with the wholesaler, you can trust the products to be shipped to you within your expected time frame.
