Car Accident What To Do

    View:
No one really likes to think about having an accident with their vehicle, but if you drive, you`re at risk for ending up in a crash, no matter how minor. Luckily, the majority of car accidents are fairly simple and end up only causing minimal damage to the vehicles, but it`s a good idea to know exactly what you should do in the case of a car accident.

1. Check if anyone is injured. Not all injuries will show up right away, but you definitely want to make sure that everyone involved in the car accident is alright. The first concern, if anyone is injured, is to get medical help. You`ll need to stop any bleeding and call 911 to make sure that help is on the way.

2. Divert traffic, if needed. Often, a car accident that immobilizes a vehicle will end up blocking traffic, so it`s a good idea to ensure that there is a way to divert traffic, either with a flare or traffic cones from an emergency kit, or having someone actually wave passing cars around the broken down vehicle. Hazard lights are also a must if they are still functioning.

3. Report the accident. Your car insurance will be useless if you can`t prove that the accident actually happened. So, an accident report should always be filed with the police even in minor fender benders that don`t seem that serious. You`ll need to make repairs and you definitely want the car insurance company to cover it, so make sure that everything is on paper and signed by the police. Stay on the scene until the accident report has been completely filled out.

4. Don`t admit anything. Immediately after an accident, it`s a good idea to keep your mouth shut as to who was at fault. It`s pretty easy to get angry, particularly if you weren`t the one at fault, but that can lead to a much nastier situation. To prevent problems, it`s best to wait until the police arrive. Also, admitting that you were at fault can cause problems down the road, so keep your mouth shut until you can speak with the police or your insurance company.

5. Write everything down. It`s a good idea to keep a pad of paper and a couple of pens in your glove box. This way you can write down all pertinent information that could be useful later on. This includes names of all parties involved, addresses, phone numbers and email, as well as the license plate number, car insurance information and VIN, since these can all be handy later on if the incident goes to court.

6. File an insurance claim. This should be done as quickly as possible after the accident. For minor accidents, you can even call from the scene and make sure that your claim is in as fast as possible. Not only does this mean you can shorten the amount of time that it takes for your claim to go through, you have the added benefit of police officers there to help you explain the situation and give them information.

Car insurance is vital to have when comes to accidents. While no one wants to be in a car accident, that doesn`t mean you should ignore the worst case scenario. You could be in the position where you need some repairs on the vehicle, thanks to the accident, and rather than having the huge expenses come out of your pocket, your insurance company will take care of it, something that can be no end of relief when everything else is going downhill.
Car Accident What To Do
Car accidents may all look the same, but the truth is they

all have their subtle differences. Therefore, no car accident

claim can be exactly like another. Accidents will always

happen, there's nothing to do about it; but if you are

unfortunate enough to be a victim of such an accident you

should know that a successful compensation claim must

be carefully planned if you want to make it.

All Car Accidents Are Unique

But know this: there are so many companies that try to

"help" in this kind of situation that you can't always tell

which are competent and which are not. Watch it for those

men who intercept you seeing the accident or at the

hospital. They get their paycheck out of commissions so

you can't say they are as empathetic as they seem. So

seeing the difference between a good company and a bad

one will be a crucial thing before you act.

In most of cases, these people will want your injury claim.

Even if it means by-passing the small print! Also important,

you shouldn't let them go on and on about their

"successes", cases won, claims delivered etc, because

your situation is unique, and so anything can happen. They

are paid to practically fool you, so don't let them.

Then How Do You Make A Successful Car Accident

Claim?

Car accident injury claims are one of the most important

issues in their field. There is not much room for

interpretation and the most important information can only

be gathered at the scene. It is crucial for the victim to

gather as much as he/she can, making notes about the

driver and insurance, the place where it happened, how

did it happen and most importantly how. If the police is

present then things are simpler, because they know better

what to look at and what questions to ask.

Tips and Tricks

The accident solicitor will tell you "all" about the things you

need to do. After that, he will always ask: "Any questions

about what I just told you?" Never say "No, I'm fine with it",

for this is a heavy mistake.

Please do interrogate him thoroughly:

? Will I get the 'whole' of my compensation? If yes??

continue

? Will I need to pay a fee? If no?? continue

? Do you recover costs from the other side (i.e. people at

fault)? If yes?? continue

? Would I need to pay anyone any money once my claim is

settled? If no?? proceed.

Passengers In A Car Accident

In most cases, passengers will not have any blame in an

accident; they can be from either, the fault or non-fault side.

But it wasn't them who drove the automobile, so they have

the greatest chances of success when asking for a correct

compensation. Of course, they need to be checked by

medical specialists for their injuries, otherwise there will be

no claim. Passengers (no matter if husbands, wives,

children or relatives) can make their car accident claim

without any hesitation. Why should they suffer because of

another persons' negligence?

If you were the passenger and your driver messed up, you

can still make your claim, it was his fault, you didn't have

anything to do with it. So no matter in which car you were

when the accident occurred, you make a successful claim!

But if you were the one who drove and it was indeed your

fault, then there's no chance at all you could make a claim.

Only your passengers will be able to do that, against you.

Payment Factors

Do you know that there are some factors that will cut down

the compensation payments you can receive? For

example, if you weren't wearing a seat belt, you will get

less money, 25% less. What's more, if the driver was drunk

when it happened, you knew that he wasn't in the right

condition to drive and still you didn't do anything about it

then this will lower your payment by a certain amount.

There are cases where the driver admits part liability on a

proportion basis. Generally it's 50/50, but it needs to be

assessed by an investigator who will examine who's at

fault before concluding. There are even some cases that

result to 80/20.

Decision Dilemmas

You DO NOT need to hold back thinking it was your friend's

or family's car. They pay insurance premiums every year to

ensure if anything happens, they're covered and so are

their passengers. You also need NOT WORRY if you were

in a taxi, bus, train or any other form of public transport.

You can still proceed with an accident compensation

claim, as the drivers are insured, as is the taxi, train and

bus driver. Companies pay thousands every year in

insurance premiums to cover passengers for these

unfortunate accidents and injuries.

On speaking to a quality car accident solicitor will you be

able to eliminate doubts in your head about payments,

fees and procedures!
