Each of the 5 motors control a movement on the watch face. There is a motor for the second hand, chronograph, dual time, and 24 hour time. The new fifth motor controls a classic date display. (This replaces the function of the LCD screen found in the first generation models.)



The Atomic Solar technology means that Oceanus with the Multi-Band Atomic Timekeeping (US, Japan) feature receives time calibration radio signals that keep the displayed time accurate. The ‘auto receive’ function receives calibration 6 times per day. There is also a manual receive function. Additionally, the solar power feature means that the watch is powered by any light source (it doesn’t require sunlight to function) and has a long power reserves so you will never need to have the battery changed. This is not only convenient, but highly desirable (especially for diving watches, where seal replacement and pressure testing is required when changing the battery).
