When the appendix, a narrow tubular pouch that is attached to the intestines, is blocked becomes inflamed and results in the condition named appendicitis. The inflamed tissue becomes infected with bacteria and begins to die from a lack of blood supply due to the continues blockage, which results in the appendix bursting.

The infection of a small section of the bowel named the appendix produce appendicitis. The appendix with the size of a small finger is the pouch at the junction of the small and large intestines. The pouch has a mucous membrane that produces a clear secretion. This organ plays a role in the immune system very early in life.

Through the bowel pass in and out of the pouch traveling partly digested food and liquids. So if the flow is blocked, bacteria trapped in the appendix may multiply and causes appendicitis.When bowel contents that flow into the appendix are blocked and cannot flow out appear appendicitis.

The appendix becomes swollen and infected because the intestinal bacteria get trapped and multiply. Cancer of the appendix is very rare. Sometimes the block appears due to a carcinoid which is a noncancerous tumor.The pain often starts near the navel, then moves to the right lower part of the abdomen.When the person moves the pain is more intense.

The following symptoms of appendicitis include: diarrhea, fever in the later stages of appendicitis and loss of appetite. The appendix may rupture if the infection continues. Sometimes relief of the pain may occur, but unfortunately is followed by a more intense pain. Chronic appendicitis is rare. It is characterized by a milder pain in the right abdomen that may come and go.

Over 24 hours the pain slowly moves to the right lower abdomen.In most cases appendicitis is accompanied by nausea, vomiting, lack of appetite and fever.There are many people with appendicitis that do not present any typical symptoms.

They may take 4-48 hours to develop. There are usually characterized by varying degrees of loss of appetite, vomiting and abdominal pain. The appendicitis may present the following symptoms like: constipation, diarrhea. It's hard to separate early symptoms from other conditions including gastroenteritis. Many people suspected of appendicitis leave the hospital with a diagnosis of gastroenteritis, but they may have appendicitis.

The diagnosis is less obvious at children and elderly persons. A precise diagnosis of appendicitis is hard to give because a lot of symptoms may be confusing, so a doctor should be consult.
