Every year when we plan for the vacation there are certain routine things that we do such as identifying the right vacation destination, learning about the tourist attractions of the tourist destination that we select, making our flight ticket bookings, finding the right hotel to stay and above all budgeting the holiday. All of us would like to have an expensive holiday as long as our savings allow us. Most often we will have to compromise on certain aspects of our holiday so that we don't deplete too much of our savings especially when we are anticipating some major expenses.

One of the big expenses of our holiday is the accommodation part. During holiday season the hotel prices will be all the more expensive. If you plan your holiday well in advance and spend enough time in making a little research on budget hotels and discount hotels you will be able to lock on to some really good hotel deals.

If you can compromise a little bit on the amenities you will certainly be able to find cheap hotel rates even during peak season. There are good hotels that provide star rated service but they will not be charging the price of a star hotel because they have not been rated with stars yet. If you can find such hotels you do not have to compromise too much but at the same time you can enjoy a good stay at cheap hotels.

You will have to be on the look out for the best hotel rates through out the year and you should not wait for the last moment to make your hotel reservations. Sometimes if you are lucky you will be able to find special offers that give you a good stay at expensive hotels at budget pricing. If you are on the constant lookout you will be able to bump onto some last minute deals. Even during peak holiday seasons, there are certain tourists who happen to cancel their hotel reservations. Hotels charge these customers a hefty cancellation fee of up to 50% or more on the amount paid. Hotels in order to keep these vacancies filled give last minute deals such as offering off season rates or one additional free night stay etc. Waiting for last minute deals may not be an ideal approach because you will end up disappointed or end up paying more if you do not get any last minute deals. This may even spoil your entire vacation.

Alternatively, you can revise your approach and plan for vacation during off season so that you do not have to pay double the rates or fight the crowd. Also, if you are a member of certain holiday clubs you can get lowest hotel rates guaranteed as a member of your holiday club.

Sometimes during peak holiday season you will not be able to get your hotel accommodation even when you are ready to pay the expensive price. So you need to plan your holidays well in advance and you should make your hotel reservations as soon as you decide your vacation destination.
