With the cost of raising a family increasing every year, it is no wonder that many families turn to the internet in search of bargain holidays. But how do you ensure that your holiday will meet your expectations and that you will not join the many families who are find that their holiday just was not suitable for them?

With a little time spent on research, you can ensure that when you book your bargain holidays you are guaranteed to have a holiday that is suitable for all of you. Nearly all of the research can be done over the internet, and it is worth spending the short period of time that it takes to ensure that you get the package holiday you want.

When you book bargain holidays, you are often not told exactly where you are staying, but it is often possible to know what resort you will be going to. Look up the resort on the internet. Check that it is shown to be a family friendly resort, and read lots of online reviews, making sure that they are from families with children the same ages of your own. If the resort is shown to be noisy and you have young children, then you may wish to look for another holiday.

When booking your bargain holidays, ask if it is possible to know what hotel you are going to. If it is possible, then again, put it into a search engine and see what other people are writing about it. If it is not possible to know the name of the hotel, you can look up the resort. If many of the hotels are said to be noisy, or do not have a children's club, then it is probably not suitable for young families.

When you read the reviews from other people, read a whole cross-section rather than just one or two. Dream package holidays can vary between people, one persons dream, is another's nightmare. Generally things to consider when taking your family on holiday are:

·The Décor and smell of a room or apartment - does it smell clean? Is the décor looking fresh and not dated?

·If you are staying in an apartment, then what are the shopping facilities in the area?

·What eating facilities are in the complex or near by? You may be feeling adventurous on your holiday, but often children like to stick to what they know food wise, and trying to persuade your child to eat is not what the holiday should be about!

·Is the hotel or resort child friendly? If it is known as a clubbing area, then it is unlikely to be suitable for a young family. An older family on the other hand may relish it.

Is there a children's club in the hotel or resort, and is it free or does it cost extra? This can give you, the parents, a chance for some well earned time alone and some undisturbed sunbathing.

·What does the resort offer in terms of entertainment? Often hotels will provide babysitting services for an extra cost.

·Are there any "must see" sites, or theme parks in the area. If so, then it may be worth hiring a car to get around rather than relying on public transport. This will give you independence and means that you will not be waiting for a bus with grumpy and tired toddlers in tow.

A small amount of time doing some research can ensure that when you book bargain holidays, you get the package holiday you want.
