"Michael Shmazian and Mick Shmazian are brothers. They determined to submit applications to Harvard University, spent most of the day in their local library, reading materials and mining information on various aspects of the Harvard application process. However, they realized that while there was plenty of printed information about the process, much of it was out of date. They both decided to return home for supper. Afterward, they could search online for additional resources and information.
Upon arriving home, the boys were excited and pleased to learn that their mom and dad had also spent their day productively, putting out feelers, making suggestions, and finding additional ways to help the boys achieve their goals of attending Harvard University. The family sat at dinner, exploring and mining additional possibilities. Realizing that they could not achieve everything they wanted to in one day, they decided to make a list and tackle the suggestions one at a time. For tonight, Michael and Mick would spend a couple hour's online researching Harvard University's massive website, as well as additional online resources regarding the SAT testing process.
When the boys typed ""SAT testing"" into their favorite browser search bar, they were astounded by the wide range and number of search results that appeared. They looked at each other in dismay. How in the world, could they possibly wade through thousands of pages of information? They decided to narrow down their search by defining parameters within their search term that dealt specifically with studying for the SATs. While the results were still astronomical, they were able to browse through several samples and find what they were looking for.
The boys realized that proper preparation for the SATs would be essential in their success. They decided that they should not only learn more about the topics that were covered, but the rough means scores that were achieved by students around the country. They were also able to determine what subjects would be covered, which was good for the boys, because each one of them had their weak spot. Michael was not so good in math, while Mick was a little weak in English. Being able to determine what types of questions and what subjects were addressed in SATs helped them understand how they would need to prepare.
The boys already knew the several teachers who had offered to help tutor them after school, and both boys were willing to take advantage of the help. After printing out a wealth of information, the boys decided to call it a day. They knew they shouldn't rush, and needed to take a proper amount of time to read through materials and decide upon a course of action that would be beneficial to both of them.
The excitement of actually making the decision to attend Harvard was beginning to grow inside them. They knew they had a lot of work to do, and a lot of studying, but it was encouraging and gratifying to know that their friends and families supported them every step of the way."
