Composing Your Invitation Message

    View:
Whenever you print invitations, composing the right kind of message is crucial. People can sometimes judge an event solely based on the invitation printing that they receive. So the success or failure of your event can pivot on something like the writing style of your invitations. This means that you have to be focused and creative when writing for print invitations. To help you out in this, we have listed the concepts for achieving this kind of writing below.

Setting the tone:

The first thing that you have to do is to set the whole tone for your invitation. You have to decide on this early on, and typically the type or theme of the event will help you with this. For example, on occasions such as weddings, inaugural balls and official functions, a tone of formality and maybe even elegance is usually used. If however you are inviting people for a professional conference, strictly business only, then you might want the tone to be more functional, business like, but not as formal and “posh” as those other events. By deciding your initial tone early on in the composition of your invitation you should have a nice basis for its theme. This theme should guide you in the writing of your invitation message.

Use the appropriate language and words:

You also need to consider the appropriate language and words that you want to use for invitation printing. This is largely dependent on the demographics of your potential guests. For example, a business conference is more likely to be composed of professionals that have some standing within their fields. Depending on these fields, a whole subculture and “sub-language” can be applicable for them. If you know about this subculture you should be able to cater your invitation message so that it uses words that people use that subculture. You can engage your readers, with these familiar words and hopefully this should convince them that the event is well worth it since it relates to them personally.

Also, for certain other formal events, most people expect a certain kind of writing style for invitations right of the bat. This is especially true for wedding invitations since a lot of people have great expectations in a wedding. Typically however, wedding invitations are written with a certain kind of tone in mind that projects the grandeur and specialness of the event. All in all by keeping up with people's preferences and tastes you should be able to write invitation messages that have more impact to a reader. The bigger the impact, the more likely are your chances to convince a person to go to your event.

Be cautious about names and titles:

Try also to be cautious about the names and titles in your invitations. People can be easily offended or encouraged by how their names are printed in an invitation. You have to know the right titles for each person in your invitation list so that you can give them the proper respect that they deserve. Are they a Miss or a Missus? Should it be Mister or Doctor? Are there special greetings like “honorable Mr. Don” or “His Eminence” that you should use? Try to research the guest list for these types of special notations so that you can be sure that your invitation can impact the reader in the best possible way.

If you follow these concepts specifically, then you should be able to compose a nice and engaging print invitation for your guests. They should feel greatly encouraged to go to the event when this happens. So always make it a point to compose the best and most polite invitation to make sure that your event becomes a success.
