We know that nice guys finish first on Fox’s American Idol, as several seasons have demonstrated that shlumpy rockers who forget to wash their hair are quickly booted out while nice guys like David Cook, David Archuleta, and even Clay Aiken are left for the masses of success. As the season seven rivalry continues into both boy’s album releases these next two weeks (Cook’s premiered November 18th while Archuleta’s came out Veteran’s Day), what will really matter in the big scheme of things? The boy’s albums are set to release a week apart, and while both singles were equally different in their sound, both managed to hit number one their prospective release weeks. Much like other budding stars who have released their album within the past few November nights, Cook is all about connecting with fans. One such avenue is through his meet and greet competition, where he asks fans to reproduce his “Light On” single (don’t worry, there’s a “how-to guide”) and if his record is purchased at the Virgin Megastore Times Square in New York the day it premieres, fans will get the opportunity to see an “intimate performance” at the Hard Rock Café later that day, according to Fox News. Already Cook’s sound is popping buzz higher than Idol’s two previous winners (Jordin Sparks and Taylor Hicks) though much can still be said once Cook’s album appears.
