York has a lot to offer travellers of all ages and inclinations - from historians to party-goers and shoppers to ramblers. Although some of the walls and gates of important York were destroyed in the early nineteenth century, there are still a generous number of Roman remains in the urban place today, including a ten-sided tower and a minute sections of the original walls. The Yorkshire Air Museum at Elvington, York is based on the former WWII Bomber Command Station of RAF Elvington and retains the authentic aura of the period, with numerous fascinating exhibits housed in restored wartime fabrics. The museum is a unique memorial to all the Allied aircrews of Bomber Command, including French, Canadian, Australian, etc. Don't miss the struggle of Britain Service on the 14th September, Remembrance Sunday on the 9th November or Santa's Plane in December! The Museum is open every day from 10 am to 5 pm (3.30 pm in winter) and admission starts from just ?3 for children under 15.

The Eden Camp contemporary history Theme Museum situated on the junction of he A64 and A169 approximately half guise between York and Scarborough is well worth a drop by. Housed within an original Prisoner of War camp, you will experience the sights, sounds and even smells of life on both the home front and front line during World War Two. catering facilities, a public house and gift shop are on site and it will be an dazzling and educational day out for the family. Eden Camp is open seven days a week from 10 am to 5 pm and it is suggested that at trivial four hours is allowed for a loaded pop in to the six acre site. The Ryedale Folk Museum at Hutton-le-Hole, York celebrates the rich inheritance of North Yorkshire from the Iron Age roundhouse to the 1950's Post Office and is also a widely known day out for all ages.

Numerous cafes and restaurants, including McDonalds, Pizza Hut and Starbucks can also be found at the shopping park. There are myriads buses which run directly to Monks Cross and cycle lanes and racks are available from one end to the other.

Travel by the North Yorkshire Moors Railway to come over the seaside municipal of Whitby for a traditional British holiday experience. Take a break in the Tea Room at Grosmont Station - a genuine 1950's railway junction - locate fabulous souvenirs in the two Gift Shops, dwell the engine sheds and view the locomotives under restoration. Goathland or "Aidensfield" as it is noted to fans of Yorkshire TV's Heartbeat suggests a refurbished Warehouse Tea Room with authentic furniture and findings, restored coal drops and a cattle dock to recreate the ancient North Eastern Railway of 1922. Take time out to adore the peace and tranquillity of the 1912-style station of Levisham, which is surrounded by walks and wildlife.

There is something for everyone in York - from onsequential homes and dainty gardens to electrifying outdoor events and award-winning restaurants and no matter where you go in York, you are bound to show a noted day out, whatever the weather!
