. Bouldering: It is comparatively difficult, as this competition does not involve the use of ropes. To make this competition more appealing, the course involves shorter climbing routes. Bouldering requires a lot of training, as it requires a lot of strength and power. Due to the shorter routes, bouldering is a lot faster and this makes it interesting for the spectators and the climbers.

. Red Point: This competition requires a climber to scale different climbing routes where the routes are characterized by the difficulty level. The points awarded are considered on the basis of the difficulty level of the climb and the amount of effort that is put to successfully complete the task. This competition requires a lot of stamina and knowledge for tackling the different rock structures. Since the points are awarded only on the completion of a climb, the climbers can have a warm up climb. Generally, a climber takes at least two attempts to complete the climb.

. Flash: This is more of an interactive form of rock climbing where the climbers can consult with each other or even with the audience to come up with the perfect climbing strategy. The uniqueness of this competition is that the climbers have only a single attempt.

. On Sight: It is one of the most popular World Cup events. It demands a lot of mental and physical strength. In this competition, the climbers are allowed a preview of the climb where they can warm up to the difficulty level of the rock formation and then, they are allowed just one attempt to climb the structure where the points are awarded based on the height that the climber achieves during the climb. A climber is strictly prohibited to remain with the other climbers after his attempt is made. He can either join the spectators or can leave the arena.

1. World Championships: The championships are held every two years with the male and female champion being crowned. They hold the titles for a period of 2 years.

2. World Cup: The World Cup involves a number of competitions where the best climber represents his country to compete in international level competitions in which the climber with the most number of points is declared as the winner of the World Cup.
