There are several main methods used and recommended for your skin; cleansing to help rid your skin of dirt, debris, and too much oil, exfoliating helps remove dead and flaking skin cells, as well as helping to clear pores, and moisturizing to help keep skin soft and supple.



Depending upon your skin type, you may use other methods or specific products in your skin care routine. People with oily skin might use astringents to help keep pores closed, or blotters to help dab at excess oil during the day. Those with dry skin might want creams with extra emollients in them to give their skin even more moisture throughout the day and even during the night.

Some people go father and add in the occasional chemical peel to get rid of winkles, and others opt for microdermabrasion to clean out pores and shed layers of dead skin cells more efficiently than any exfoliate can.

But for both sufferers of dry skin, oily skin, and even for those who have virtually no skin problems, there is always the possibility of a mask. The facial mask comes in all colors, consistencies, and ingredients, with promises of all sorts pertaining to the benefits of facial mask skin care.

Facial masks are a completely optional step in a skin care routine, and are considered by most to be a kind of luxury only found in beauty spas or during a relaxing bath when one has time to sit with cooling creams on their face. Masks can beneficial because of the ingredients they contain, coming from certain muds containing enzymes, such as volcanic earth, vitamins and minerals, or plants such as lavender and seaweed.

These ingredients can all have a specific purpose, and you may have seen some of them listed as ingredients in your moisturizer or other skin care product.

Facial masks, though quite optional, can be a fun added step in your skin care routine. You can find some good ones online or on your drugstore shelf if you do a little research and choose one that will be of best use to your skin type. Give yourself a little time to relax and put on a mask. Even if the results are not phenomenal, you cannot deny the ease you feel while lounging about with a pleasant mask on your face.
