There are approximately 57 airports throughout The Bahamas, including three International airports 24 of these airports are official ports of entry to The Islands of the Bahamas.



The Islands of the Bahamas form a 100,000 sq mile archipelago that extends over 500 miles of the clearest water in the world. There are 700 islands, including uninhabited cays and large rocks, total an estimated land area of 5,382 sq miles and register a highest land elevation of 206 ft.

Christopher Columbus, the first European visitor made his first landfall in the New World on San Salvador in 1492.

There are 120 species of plants found only in The Bahamas

Inagua is a birdwatchers paradise with the worlds largest breeding colony of West Indian flamingos.

Several species of whales and dolphins, including blue and humpback whales and spotted dolphin are found in the waters.

Junkanoo, which has been compared to Carnival in Rio and Mardi Gras in New Orleans is a colourful and uniquely Bahamian parade held on Boxing Day and New Years Day.

There is no income or corporate tax and no capital gains or inheritance tax in The Bahamas

In the Bahamas we drive on the left, but most vehicles are left hand drive.

Most notable, however, is that each island has its own diversity that continues beyond geography, carrying through to the heart of The Bahamas, the Bahamian people.

The diverse heritage of The Bahamas has left behind an equally diverse culture rich with customs that continually remind travellers of the Bahamian love for celebration and community.

The trade winds that blow almost continually throughout The Islands of the Bahamas give the islands a warm, agreeable climate which varies little year round. The most refreshing time is between Septembers through May, when the temperature averages 70 to 75F degrees. The rest of the year is a bit warmer with temperatures between 80 to 85F degrees.

The legal tender is the Bahamian dollar which is equivalent in value to the US dollar. Even though the Bahamas mint and circulate their own legal tender, both US and Bahamian dollars are accepted interchangeably throughout the islands.
