A dog owner cannot imagine life without the dog. Then when you do reach home, it gives the best welcome you can dream of. No family member can match the sheer enthusiasm and joy that a pet dog demonstrates when you arrive back from work or even from a brief five-minute excursion.



You also gain some extra sense of security with a dog around you. Natural instincts make a dog alert to its surroundings.

Even if you had any doubts, I think that you would now agree that there is a strong bond between a dog and its master. Now let us look at the other side of the story: How special are you to the dog.

There are two parts to being kind to your dog. The first part is taking care of your dog's physical needs. The second part is behaving nicely with your dog. Naturally you cannot but have the second part right. But going by basic theories in behavioral sciences, we must first think about the dog's basic necessities.

First and foremost is good food. A dog must get the right quantity of food with the right amount of nutrition at the right time of the day. A domesticated dog is dependent on you for this food. So, make sure that you do not fall short of your dog's expectations.

A dog also needs a comfortable place to sleep. And I do not just mean a roof over the dog's head. I actually mean an appropriate place to sleep.

An amateur could think that a dog can sleep anywhere. In an extreme it could work, but you owe more to your dog. Depending on the material of the flooring, seasons could cause it to get too hot or too cold. This would also depend on whether the dog is hairy or not.

Then again treating the dog's bedding requirement akin to a human's bedding needs is inappropriate. So let us see what the dog needs.

First of all the dog's bedding should be of the right size and should seem appropriate based on the size of the dog. Second the bedding should be of a size that you could locate it at the correct portion of your home. Some prefer that a dog sleep outdoors. Others prefer a dog sleeping inside the house. In either case, you will have to come up with the appropriate bedding situation.
