Easy Clean Waffle Maker

    View:
If you have a teak table and chairs in your home, there is no doubt you have been proud of the beauty these pieces have brought to you. Unfortunately the inevitable is going to happen. You are going to notice a stain in the wood. While teak is pretty hardy and puts up with a lot of use and abuse, dirt can be rubbed into the surface, and make a lasting mark. Now your perfect wood is blighted, right? Wrong. You can get rid of the stain, with a little know-how, and have your teak chairs looking like new again.

When you first notice a stain on your teak chairs, you should start with the easy solution, soap and water. Scrub it a little bit and see if you can get the stain to come up. If you notice a little progress, you may want to keep going to see if you can get the entire blemish removed. If not, it's time to take a tougher tactic. Pull out the sandpaper. Most people cringe when thinking of taking a piece of sandpaper to their teak chairs but teak is amazingly resilient. Make sure the sandpaper you are using is a very fine grade. Look at the grain on the wood. You need to sand in the direction of that grain. Take your time and sand slowly, just until the stain is gone. As soon as you have removed the stain, dust the area free of sanding residue and apply teak oil.

After you have gone through your first teak stain removal, you may start trying to come up with ways to keep it from happening again. Some people think covers for their teak chairs are the way to go. But they are not. Covers can trap moisture. This is especially dangerous if your teak furniture is outside. Covers on teak chairs can become a perfect zone for mold growth.

Let's say you already know that, because you're reading this after you have found mold on your teak chairs and are trying to get rid of it. Never fear, there is a solution. Once you spot mold on your teak chairs, you have to kill it. This can be done by taking a little bit of bleach, added to water, and dabbing it on the moldy area. You want to let the mixture sit there for 15-20 minutes, so it can do its job. Then use water to wipe the bleach off. If you have outdoor chairs suffering from a lot of mold, you may want to soak them down, spray them off after 20 minutes or so, and then wait for them to dry in the sun.

In order to keep mold away, or at least keep it from coming back, you need to maintain your teak chairs. If your teak chairs are kept clean, there will be nothing for the mold to grow on. You should make cleaning the chairs part of your housecleaning schedule. With proper care and cleaning your teak chairs will last through many years and many memories.
