We practice regular exercise so that we can improve the body's health... Well, it stands to reason that you would do the same for your eyes to keep them fit and possibly even improve your vision. It is still not known for certain whether or not eye exercises actually improve eyesight. However, patients and doctors seem to both agree that eye exercises are often effective in relieving eye strain and stress. Eye problems such as esotropia (the eye turns in) or exotroia (the eye turns out) may also improve through exercises.



Just as you would do when starting physical exercise, you want to discuss with your eye doctor before doing any eye exercises. There are some rare conditions that could cause your eyes to be strained even further or quite possibly result in further permanent damage to your eyes. When doing the exercises explained here you will need a pencil. Also, if you are wearing contacts, you may want to remove them. You could possibly have problems with your contacts if you wear them during the exercises, they could fold, become dislodged or even suction to the eyeball. Whatever you do, do not apply pressure to your eyeballs and you may want to do the exercises in private (or at least tell those around you what you are doing - you will see why in a second.).

Starting Your Eye Exercises:

Sit in a chair in a comfortable position. Briskly rub your hands together until they are warm. Close your eyes and cover them gently with your warmed hands, palms slightly cupped. Do not apply pressure to your eyeballs. Relax and practice some deep breathing as you de-stress your body as well as your eyes. Repeat this process for several minutes.

Now, squeeze your eyes shut for about 5 seconds, then open them wide for several seconds. Repeat this about 5 to 10 times, then close your eyes and gently massage your eyes. Using a circular motion, remember a circular motion and remember to not press too hard. Do this for about one minute. The next step is to gently press three fingers against the upper eyelid of each eye and hold for 1-2 seconds then release. Repeat this process five times.

Now sit in a relaxed posture. Roll your eyes in a clockwise direction, then in a counter-clockwise direction. Blinking between each repetition, repeat this same motion five times. Now sit near a window, about six inches from the glass, and make a mark on the glass at eye level. Make sure that the mark is large enough and dark enough for you to see. A red or black sticker would work well in this instance. Direct your eyes toward the mark and focus on something beyond it for 10 to 15 seconds. Return your focus to the mark for 10 to 15 seconds. Repeat this several times. (This will allow your eyes to focus on something in the distance, and then to focus on a close up object.) You can do different personalized variations of this. But you get the general idea.

Get your pencil, this is where you will use it. Hold your pencil at arm's length in front of you. Slowly move the pencil toward your nose, keeping your eyes on the pencil until you can no longer focus on it. Repeat this ten times. This is an easy exercise you can do at any time.

Make time to do these exercises on a regular basis. If you spend a lot of time in front of the computer, make sure that you look away for 5 to 10 seconds at a distant object every 30 minutes, in order to reduce eye strain and damage.

First of all, you must make minor changes in your lifestyle and try including more healthy fruits and vegetables, nuts, eggs, and fish in your diet. These small changes may go a long way to help you get the perfect nails that you had always dreamt of.

Here are a few tips for getting healthy nails:

&bull Remove nail polish every week as this allows the nails to breathe.

&bull Give a natural massage to your nails using coconut oil or warm castor oil.

&bull Dip your nails in warm water mixed with a tablespoon of lemon juice before you manicure them.

&bull Apply a base coat with smooth strokes before applying nail paint and then let the coat dry before you apply nail paint.

&bull Use an acetone-free nail polish remover so that your nails don't lose their natural oils. Use a nail polish remover only 3-4 times in a month.

&bull Massage your cuticle twice a week using a rich cream. If your cuticle is damaged, you can use alpha hydroxy cream. Moisturize your nails and cuticles at bedtime and then cover them with cotton gloves.

&bull If suffering from nail fungus or infection, use a mixture of lavender oil and Tea tree oil to treat it.

&bull Whenever you get time, rub your nails with lemon to make them look lustrous and provide them with essential nutrition.

&bull A right diet plays an important role in maintaining healthy and beautiful nails. Therefore, you should include hard-boiled eggs and a glass of milk in your diet. If your nails have white spots, you should include food rich in zinc.

&bull While filing your nails, file in a single direction. Avoid filing nails just after taking bath as wet nails tend to break more easily.

&bull To keep your nails well-hydrated, rub your nails and skin surrounding them with a petroleum jelly. If you don't want to use a petroleum jelly, you can use Castor oil instead. Castor oil is rich of vitamin E, which is also good for your cuticles. You can also use olive oil for the same purpose.

&bull Use rubber gloves while performing household tasks, such as washing dishes or clothes. To maintain extra softness, you can also apply a good hand -ream before wearing rubber gloves.

&bull Taking diet rich in vitamins A, E, and Biotin makes your nails stronger. Vitamin A is present in green, yellow and orange vegetables, while nuts and leafy green vegetables offer vitamin E in good quantity. Biotin is a vitamin, which is primarily found in almonds, eggs, soybeans, and sweet potatoes.

&bull Drink nine to ten glasses of water every day. This is because water helps in keeping your nails well-hydrated and maintaining their luster. If you want to strengthen your nails, you can consume Gelatine, which is available in a drinkable form. Gelatine helps in building nail strength and thickening weak nails.
