Electronic Ignition Conversion Kits

    View:
With cars you know that the normal headlights just don't work. They are very effective in using as little electricity as possible, however, in most cases they are not actually bright enough to see the road and avoid possible hazards like hitting an animal. It is because they are so inefficient that people generally buy HID conversion kits to replace them.

HID stands for high intensity discharge. Using the HID headlights can put out more than 5 times the amount of light than you would get from your average halogen headlights. This means that you see more and can find it easier to avoid any problems.

HID is not your usual light bulb. With most light bulbs there is a filament surrounded by inert gases like argon that work to keep it from catching fire. The filament is attached to two long metal rods. As electricity pulses through them heat is produced, and eventually there is enough heat to cause enough visible light for a person to use. The halogen light bulb usually used in car is a little more advanced. It uses the same filament but encases it in quartz. It also fills envelope with halogen gases. The halogen gases work buy re-depositing atoms on the filament when the temperature is high enough and the halogen gases combine with tungsten vapors from the filament. This allows the light bulbs to burn at a higher temperature and they actually last longer as well.

There are lights that are more efficient than halogen lights though. HID lights are both brighter and take up less energy. Instead of using the usually filaments HID lights use gases to produce the light we use. HID headlights that you get with the use the same high pressure technology that we often see used with street lamps. The gases used are often Mercury and is very close in design to a mercury vapor lamp. There is one little problem that scientist ha to work out though. Like with florescent light bulbs, these would take a long time to warm up and actually become bright. To help fix this there is xenon and a special controller that is used.

Back in the day HID headlights and were only offered as an option for those high end luxury cars. Today however, though they are still a little expensive, they are becoming more and more available as they are produced in greater quantity. They are becoming more popular because of the light benefits that people get out of them at night. To give you an idea as to just how beneficial the HID kits can be to your car, there are airplanes that use HID lights because of how bright they are.

Anybody who owns a car can benefit from HID conversion kits. This is especially true for people who generally have a hard time with seeing at night, which makes it harder to react in dangerous situations, including the elderly. If you chose a good quality HID light then you will improve your night time visibility and help to get you and your family where you need to be with less risk.
Electronic Ignition Conversion Kits
HID Conversion Kits are getting more and more popular for automotive

headlight, it's considered as the best upgraded headlight system compared to

the original halogen bulbs. Somehow there are many different HID kits, like

single beam kit, hi/lo beam kit on the market. This article will tell you the

differences on each kit, the color temperature, and much more.

Four Common HID Kits

1 . Single Beam Kit, comes with 2 pairs of HID bulbs, 2 ballasts.

(if your vehicle uses 2 pairs of bulbs, 1 for low beam and the other for high

beam, you can take this single beam hid kit for your low beams.) Common Bulb

sizes are H1, H3, H4-1, H7, 9004-1, 9005, 9006, 9007-1?

2. High/Low Beam - Hi/Lo Kit, comes with 2 pairs of HID bulbs (one HID and one

halogen on each HID bulb to perform the high and low beam function, Halogen

for high beam and HID for low beam.) and 2 ballasts. Common bulb sizes are H4-2,

9004-2, 9007-2.

3. Telescope Kit: Single HID can switch between high beam and low beam, with

2 ballasts and installation clamps. Common bulb sizes are H4-3, 9004-3, 9007-3.

4. Bi-xenon Kit: 2 HID bulbs on each bulb, which works for high and low beam,

with 4 ballasts and installation clamps. Common bulb sizes are H4-4, 9004-4,

9007-4.

Most of the HID Conversion Kits on the market are 35W/12V, you need 24V for

a truck. Some hid kits are using 55W, so buyer has to read the specifications

carefully.

Color Temperature:

HID Color temperature refers to the degrees (K) , which simply the measures

of the color for the lighting output, like golden yellow, white, crystal white,

blue ?

Degree (k) refers only to the color, while lumen refers to the lighting intensity.

So the higher the color temperature (degrees K) doesn't mean a higher light

intensity (lumen). Here is the summary for the common color temperature on the

market --

3000K (Golden Yellow) , 4300K (Bright White), 5000K (white), 6000K (Crystal

White),8000K (Crystal Blue), 10000K (Aqua Blue), 12000K (Purple-Blue).

5000K or 6000K are the most popular color temperature, and if you are planning

to buy the hid kits with 10000K or over, please be careful about the legal issue

in your country. Most of the 12000K or 14000K (purple) are using off road only.

Warranty:

You can get the HID Kits on EBay or other auction sites at a cheap price, but

warranty issues would always be a big problem. So buy it from a reliable shop

or online store would be the best choice because you will have a better follow

up for the warranty issues.
