This year the early pacesetters are Manchester United who are having the best start to a premiership campaign in years. so far 4 wins out of 4 for the boys who are notoriously slow starters. Hot on there heals are Portsmouth who after 4 games have yet to conceed a goal. This could be something to do with the signing of SolCampbell in the close season from Arsenal.
Last Years Champions Chelsea are sitting in fourth position having lost only 1 game away to Middlesbrough. Chelsea look good and are sure to be the team who everyone needs to challenge.
Since brining in Martin O'Neill , Aston Villa have pushed themselves up to fifth position. This I would suggest is a little too high for there seasons position and they should slip back a few places.
Last years 3rd team Liverpool have made a rather poor start, losing 1 and drawing 1 of there first 3 games. Liverpool should get back on track and expect them to be challenging a Manchester United and Arsenal at the top of the table.
Arsenal have had an even stickier start to the season, drawing 2 and losing 1 of there first 3 games. New signing have been made and Arsenal are expected to turn the corner.
On the relegation front he favourites for the drop must be the 3 teams who came in to the Premiership. Off the 3 Reading have got of tothe greatest Start with 6 points from 4 game. Sheffield United and Watford are both sitting in the relegationzone but both managers are content with the teams performance and are sure that points will be coming there way soon enough.
Blackburn have made the slowest start for established Premiership teams only picking up the 2 points from four games. Mark Hughes must has some concerns over his teams early season form.
I think Watford along with Blackburn will struggle this year but it willbe another season inthe premiership for both Reading and Sheffield utd.
English Premiership League Table
Liverpool's last title success in English football came almost twenty years ago. It is hard to believe that the most successful English club would have to wait this long for their next triumph. But they might not have to wait too long now, considering the length of time they have started to spend at the summit of the English Premier League this season.
Yet, despite having stayed within the top two places in the league, Liverpool still find themselves under constant criticism. Their form at home has been poor for a top football club. This has prompted their doubters to question Liverpool's ability to overcome their title jinx and win their 19th league title in history.
Admittedly, Liverpool have not done themselves any favor when they struggled to numerous draws at home against inferior opponents. Past and present champions have always built the foundation of their success on being dominant at home. Yet Liverpool has not been close to doing that, and have actually shown better form away from home where the glare of the spotlight has been lesser.
However, despite the patchy home form, the Anfield football club continues to lead the title race, showing resilience and strength of character. That would be a crucial advantage for the team if they hope to become champions when the season concludes. This characteristic continues to grow despite some setbacks, and both fans and players are beginning to believe.
The manager has been a major catalyst for this change. Rafael Benitez has brought gradual but much needed changes to the club. There is a growing professionalism within the club management to stay with the modern game, and players have become better overall as they become familiar with continental strategies. As the groundwork and foundation continues to improve, the English league title might soon follow.
There is also a growing increase in the number of world-class players that have arrived at the club. With the arrival of Fernando Torres last season, Liverpool finally had their own clinical goalscorer that all title hopefuls needed. They added the impish Robbie Keane to their ranks this year. Despite a rocky start to his season in Liverpool colors, the Irish striker should eventually come good.
Add to all this the ever present talisman of Liverpool - Steven Gerrard, and there is a growing argument for a shift in power in English football. The England midfielder is a constant thorn in opposing defences. With Gerrard leading the team, the players seldom look like losing in many games. The proof is in the pudding, with Liverpool having clawed their way back to win matches several times this season, such as their fantastic comeback against Manchester City.
When all these come together, Liverpool have got what they need to finally dominate English football like they used to in the 1970's and 1980's. A culture of success is continually being fostered, and now they only need consistent results. That could finally arrive this season when Liverpool ends twenty years of hurt with the intoxicating taste of title glory.
