Aromatherapy is a scented form of soothing and relaxation treatments. All different types of essential oils are used to achieve different degrees of aromatherapy. Essential oils are naturally occurring volatile oils that are obtained by cold expression or steam distillation. The oil will have the characteristically familiar aroma from the plant part from which it was derived.
These are 100% pure oils that have not been processed in any way. Essential oil diffusers have become very popular lately in dispensing these natural oil fragrances into the air. Aromatherapy uses essential oil diffusers to achieve its goal of gently diffusing essential oils into the air.
Types of Diffusers
There are several different types of diffusers on the market today. One of the popular styles for large public areas is essential oil fan diffusers. These diffusers use a fan to blow the oils into the air. This is done with essential oils being placed onto a disposable absorbent pad or put into a tray and then the pad or tray is placed into the unit and switched on. The fan will then blow air across the tray or pad and send the aroma throughout the room.
These are very effective essential oil diffusers. Electric heat essential oil diffusers are another good way to dispense the essential oils into the air. These are very popular in bathrooms and living areas and are more commonly known as plug-ins. These units contain tiny cartons of essential oil and are simply plugged into the wall.
A SpaScenter Essential Oil Diffuser has an oil drawer where you apply 20 drops of an essential oil onto a pad. You then turn on the SpaScenter to activate the air circulation and instantly enjoy the benefits of true aromatherapy. The SpaScenter allows you to adjust the strength of the diffuser with a simple turn of a button and can easily be changed to a different essential oil. The SpaScenter is extremely popular because it allows you to have a continuous subtle aroma climate for a long period of time.
Reed essential oil diffusers have become very popular today because they are more nature oriented and look very nice sitting in a living room or bedroom. There is no electricity or flame needed for a reed essential oil diffuser. The essential oil is placed in the diffuser and a reed is put into the oil. The fragrance basically travels up the reed and is dispersed throughout the room. The fragrance will last for months in one of these reeds.
Essential Oil Diffuser Nebulizer
Yes, it's true: Helichrysum essential oil provides fast-acting, effective pain relief for a great many physical ailments. Aromatherapy companies are, by law, prevented from advertising this fact directly along with their products, but it's true. Many, many individuals are regularly using this very healing oil to both reduce pain and, depending on the injury or ailment, to actually speed healing. As noted by Dr. Kurt Schnaubelt, America's leading medical aromatherapist, the effects of this oil are "so convincing that it has never met with any kind of criticism." So what's special about Helichrysum, where do you get it and how do you use it?
Helichrysum is a totally unique pain reliever and wound healer -- not only just in the world of aromatherapy, but in the big picture of the entire world of medicine. It rates exceptionally highly in the two most important criteria, safety and efficacy. In terms of safety, it is sometimes prescribed for direct application to the skin at 100% strength (unlike some other pain relieving oils such as Wintergreen). Very conservative therapists do not recommend the oil to be used during pregnancy or by children under 12. It would be a shame however to discard the use of the oil for young children with injuries -- like any essential oil, it should be used with respect as a medicine, only using as much as needed to produce the desired healing effect. The classic and important aromatherapy text 'Essential Oil Safety', lists the oil as non-toxic, non-irritating and non-sensitizing.
Its efficacy is unsurpassed. Most folks who use it find the pain relief nearly immediate -- "it just makes the pain go away", "it's amazing" and other similar comments are frequently uttered when the oil is used. The oil is recommended for ANY kind of pain: joint pain, muscular aches and pains, back pain, neck pain, nerve pain, and pain resulting from surgery and trauma. In most cases, a simple preparation of the oil in any common aromatherapy carrier oil is the formula of choice. Jojoba is commonly used for aches and pains; Rosehip seed oil and Tamanu are selected when healing skin damage (or reducing scarring).
Making our own formulation is very easy to do. It is recommended to start of with lower dilutions and work your way up only if necessary; this helps you conserve the precious oil by only using as much as required for the desired results. Forty drops of Helicrysum in each ounce of carrier oil will create an approximate 5 percent dilution; eighty drops for a 10 percent dilution; etc. The pure essential oil, not diluted in any carrier oil, is recommended when a trauma has just occurred, to prevent further tissue damage due to swelling and oxidative free-radicals. For example, a twisted ankle could receive a few drops of the pure oil from a fingertip, massaged into the painful region immediately after the injury, and several times over the next 24 hours.
In addition to its pain-relieving action, the pure essential oil includes natural constituents which actually speed wound healing. It is thought that this is a result of the oil quenching free radicals in the injured area, and signaling tissues to regenerate. For these reasons, Helichrysum is also found in many formulas for healing and anti-aging of the skin. Helichrysum is also excellent for burns, and just a little bit of oil on small burns can provide immediate relief. (If using for injuries with broken skin, avoid use if excessive bleeding is an issue, as the oil acts as an anticoagulant. Use only once bleeding has stopped completely, and is not likely to be of concern again in these cases).
The most potently-healing Helichrysum essential oil is considered to be the 'serotinum' sub-species grown on the island of Corsica, France. The oil is often distilled from wild growing plants, which can be the strongest healers due to their synergistic relationship with their natural environment. The oil is also distilled from Helichrysum italicum flowers grown around Europe; one may try more than one source to find the oil that works best for them.
The profoundly effective action for pain relief provided by Helichrysum italicum essential oil is one of natural medicine's most wonderful treasures. With its exceptional ratings for safety, efficacy and ease-of-use, the oil is unsurpassed as a healing agent for all sorts of pain. Its quick, gentle action is appreciated by the great majority of users, and is worth investigating for your own needs.
