"I am really excited about the gay neighbors, it is about time," said Longoria, who plays Gabrielle Lang on Desperate Housewives, during her Emmy red carpet interview with Access Hollywood on Sunday night. "I am surprised we haven't had them before."
Previous reports have already revealed that the Bob and Lee gay tandem on Desperate Housewives will be played by Tuc Watkins and Kevin Rahm, respectively. The couple flies in from New York City to the small suburban town to get away from all the buzz and live a quieter life. However, they soon find themselves in a conflict with Katherine Mayfair (played by Dana Delaney) upon installing a large fountain in their new home.
Eva Longoria adds that Dana wouldn't be the only one who would come into conflict with the gay lovers.
"They're funny, oh god they're funny," Longoria said. "[They] have a lot with Teri Hatcher [who plays Susan Mayer] – they are like, catty with her and they don't like her and it is so fun."
Longoria adds that she hopes that her character would eventually become a close friend of the gay couple, however there hasn't been much interaction between Gabrielle and Rob and Lee since they started filming the fourth season of Desperate Housewives.
"They're my neighbors. They are actually the house right next to me and I haven't really interacted with them too much," Longoria sighed. "I would love [a script involving my character and their characters]. Gabrielle should be friends with the gays."
On Sunday, September 30, Desperate Housewives will be returning for their fourth installment. New cast recruits for the new season include Nathan Fillion as Katherine's younger husband, Adam and Lyndsy Fonseca as Katherine's 17-year-old daughter, Dylan.
