The world is changing, humanity has just come out of the past to become a force with which the existing creatures of the world must deal with. For the Dragons, the elves, and other creatures who have been on the world possibly millions of years the sudden civilization of humans poses could pose a huge problem, how would they react to this? Such questions make the early Bronze Age one of the most interesting periods to role play in.



Historically and mythological the people of the early bronze age lived in city state regions, with each city owned by a different primary god, Ur for example was ruled by Nanna the moon god. The rulers of that city where said to be his decedents. In the fantasy role playing game this could explain the ability of humans to threaten and survive within a harsh world, for they have a powerful being watching out for them, and the decedents of that being ruling over them. Further these decedents on death could in a fantasy game be raised up again by their divine ancestor, along with the court buried with them. Then they could hold a court to help protect the city from the many threats that exist in the fantasy world. In this way the city would be protected from material and human threats by those who where living, and from dragons, demons, and the undead by those courts which had passed on.

The pc’s in such a world would have the opportunity to go on quests for multiple courts including those which had passed on. They could face threats and deal with situations vastly more serious then most other fantasy role playing worlds would allow for. For in such a world the wilderness would truly be wild there having never before been humans who could stand up to the creatures within, and these beings might decide to attempt to destroy humanity, causing a war between dragons and their allies against humans.

The Bronze Age too had an interesting building strategy, one which is used to some extent today, in this rather then tear down a building the people would build temples on old temples, cities on old cities, over and over again. This would allow many things to live beneath a city, in city streets and old houses of the people who had come before.

The combat tactics of the Bronze Age too offer many new difficulties in the form of combat tactics. For in the Bronze Age people had not yet started to ride horses for combat instead they rode chariots, and wore bronze armor and carried bronze weapons. Such things would make the people easy targets for any more advanced creatures who with iron or steel could easily break and cut the equipment of the pc’s and their allies. Playing the facing an army with vastly superior technology without having to worry about guns is one advantage that role playing the Bronze Age would offer.
