Fathers Day Arts And Crafts

    View:
Fathers are important for the development and state of every child. This time of year gives special thanks and consideration to those men who went above and beyond to give their children special reflections. The 3rd Sunday in June honors our fathers in their hard work, in the nation's security and assisting our mothers in raising the children in happy and difficult times. It is vital for every individual to give thanks to their fathers that helped in the growing and hard work to keep food on the table and a loving place to grow up as productive adults.

Father's Day was started by Sonora Dodd. When she became an adult she realized how fantastic her father was. Sonora has 5 siblings. Her mother died while giving birth to the last of the children. Sonora's father, William Smart, took control of the situation and struggled immensely to feed, house and clothe 6 children as one was a newborn baby.

Sonora appreciated the sacrifice her father performed while the children began to grow. As she became an adult she saw a Mother's Day Festival and realized there should be a day for the fathers. She started to petition lawmakers in the U.S. to make this a national holiday. In 1924, the lawmakers maintained the ideas of a traditional Father's Day, especially President Coolidge. However, this magnificent day did not become a national holiday until 1972 when President Nixon finally signed the bill.

Between the years of 1924 and 1972 when Father's Day became a national holiday many individual began constructing their own celebrations. There were committees that were designed to begin rallies in honor of fathers everywhere. Before this day became a full holiday, churches and individual heard of Sonora's fight to bring national recognition to her cause.

Certain churches and individual held festivals and parties for fathers everywhere. Even though this day began in the backwoods of Washington State it is now a world-wide tradition. This day honors fathers from all walks of life that has dedicated their time and energy to their children.

Father's Day is a time to reflect on the good with every individual's family. Each person has trials and tribulations with their parents. However, on this fantastic day the fathers of the world deserve respect and recognition for what they have contributed to their families.

Men have taken on many burdens in life, they have fought in wars, they have worked their fingers to the bones in order to feed and clothe their families. Fathers have come home in the evening and played ball with their kids, eating dinner together as a family, assisting in homework and reading bedtime stories. They have played Santa Clause, the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy.

These men have sacrificed their sport cars and seasonal ball game tickets for their children's college education and medical bills. Father's Day is the time to say thanks and show how much you appreciate how a true dad spends their time.
Fathers Day Arts And Crafts
The third Sunday in June is celebrated as the father's day. This day commemorates all the men who are great dads and also those men who play a father like role for other people. The non traditional family structure is the norm of the day and hence in this light all father figures be it an elder brother or a brother in-law etc are celebrated on this day. The first Father's Day was celebrated in Spokane, Washington, in June 1910 through the efforts of a woman Sonora Dodd in United States who felt that just like the mothers the fathers too played important roles in the lives of their children.

The inspiration for her was her own father who after their mother's death had raised her and her five siblings with great love and care. Owing to her father being born in June she encouraged the celebrations in that month. Her efforts had begun in 1909 but it was not until 1972, that Father's day became an official holiday in the United States. It was President Nixon who with the help of a proclamation declared the third Sunday in June as Father's Day and an official holiday.

There were however not the great celebrations that are held today on Father's day in the yester years. It was a solemn church service in which the fathers were honored for the contribution that they made to the lives of their children and the whole day was solemn and respectful occasion. The red rose was a symbol of honoring a living father and a white one for a father who had passed away. In 1924, a Pennsylvanian bible class opted for a more unusual flower: the dandelion as the flower for father's day. This was because of the specialty of this flower that the more it was trampled upon the more it grew.

The fathers too feel special and honored and it arouses in them a sense of duty and compassion for their children even greater than what they already have. It is of course the job of the parents to raise their children but if their efforts are honored and the children show their respect and gratitude then their heart is definitely gladdened.

However some people feel that occasion such as father's day and mother's days are earmarks of a progressive era and are trumped up occasions. No one force sentiments or celebrations so it can be well left to them.
