Over the past 12 months or so, traditional film rental brands such as Blockbuster have merged the traditional DVD renting process on the web, which operates the same way as it used to offline really, the difference is you choose the DVDs you want to see from the comfort of your own computer chair, also it’s a lot cheaper!
Once you got the DVD (through your letterbox) and seen it, you post it back to them in a pre paid envelope. The big change I noticed between dvd rental on the net and physical DVD rental is that online is more of a bargain, and a lot more giving in the amount of DVD's you can rent and the amount of weeks you can keep them. Even though the companies vary a lot in their deals, the costs of them are all very good.
Just thik how much blockbuster dont have to spend by not having to use offline resources such as a building, staff, and display - so bigging up on the net renting is in their best interest, and making the offers to encourage the public to do it on the web is the way forward.
There is a load of companies to select from and most take the monthly membership pricing as standard. So for a set price every month you can rent a certain amount of DVD’s at a time, and as soon as you send them back you receive the next DVDs. LoveFilm in the UK have recently introduced a PAYG service where you’re not committed into any recurring payment.
Tesco, Amazon, LoveFilm and Blockbuster are some of the companies getting in on this new venture, competing with good deals. All companies have a good selection and a few promote more than film renting, with video game rental too, which operates on the same principle.
My advice, is to note down how many films you rent a month now offline, and if it’s less than once a month you possibly wouldn’t want to be tied into any monthly DVD renting subscription. If it’s around one or two a month consider a low number monthly contract and so forth.
