Fishing Gear And Equipment

There are certain pieces of fishing gear that I view as indispensable to many fishing situations, and some anglers may not have heard of them. Pieces of fishing gear that I view as indispensable accomplish two things. 1) they make an angler much more efficient, and 2) Save enable you to spend more time with your line in the water. Let's face it, the more time we can spend fishing rather than searching for equipment the more successful we will be as anglers. Remember, it's impossible to catch a fish, without having your line in the water. So what are these indispensable pieces of fishing gear?

Retractors - If you've never heard of retractors, now is the time. A retractors is a small device that hangs off of your fishing vest, belt, or shirt and holds lightweight fishing gear. Then when you need said gear, you simply grab it, use it, and release it. The retractor zips the gear right back into place. This way you always know where your most used pieces of fishing gear are. The use of retractors eliminates the need to dig through your pockets or tackle box to find what you need. My favorite items to attach to a retractor are nail clippers (to snip fishing line) and hemostats (for hook removal). Most retractors come with some sort of clip for easy attachment of items. If the clip is tiny, I would find a retractor with a good sized clip.

Bait Bag - A bait bag is simply a small bag that hangs off of your fishing vest, belt, or shirt, and carries your live worms or other bait for easy access. We as anglers waste a lot of time digging through pockets searching for our bait when it's needed. With the help of a bait bag, your live worms (or whatever bait you happen to be using) are always hanging right there at your fingertips, literally. If you fish with bait, especially live worms, a bait bag should be employed.

Film Containers - What do I mean by this? You know those old film containers that you have laying around? These are perfect for holding your split shot sinkers, swivels, and extra small terminal tackle. Rather than carrying around a tackle box full of this small terminal tackle, use old film containers. Then these small film containers can be placed into you pockets for easy access to all of your small terminal tackle.

These simple tips will make you a much more efficient angler, and in my view an efficient angler is a happy angler because they catch more fish. Remember, anything that can help you spend more time with your line in the water is a good thing. These simpole tips will help you spend more time with your line in the water, rather than searching for your fishing gear.

Fishing Gear And Equipment

To guard against this, it is important that the individual items of tackle be properly balanced one with the other. Unbalanced equipment has been responsible for more difficulties and failures of beginners than any other single factor.

Fishing Rod

To fish with a good rod is to really enjoy fishing. It is much easier to learn with a good rod than with one of an inferior quality. This is no commercial plug to encourage the sale of expensive rods, but just a word of warning to prevent any possible or unnecessary discouragement because of using a rod that would be decided handicap to a competent caster.

Fishing Lines

This item of fishing gear must be selected with some careful considerations if anglers are expecting to enjoy fishing or casting.

This is because the size and weight of fishing lines made by various manufacturers are not entirely uniform, that is, the diameter of the line by one manufacturer may be slightly larger or smaller than a line by another manufacturer even though both bear the same size marking.

The Leader

The leader is also a very important item, and unless it is selected with care and consideration in comparison with the size of the line, the caster will have trouble in making it extend straight out from the line when casting.

The chief function of the leader is to serve as an invisible connection between the line and the lure.

Fishing Flies or Lures

The flies may range in size, from the tiniest used, which might be number 18 or 20, up to flies tied on number-2 hooks or larger. The heavier flies or lures create; more wind is needed. It also requires the use of heavier equipment or more power on the part of the caster during the back cast and forward cast.

Reels

The reel may be automatic or single action, but in any event, it should be larger enough to hold the usual 30 yards of fishing line without crowding it on the reel spool.

The reel should weigh from 1 ? to 1 ? as much as the bare rod. The reel itself is of no specific use in casting or fishing except as a storage place for the line.

Consequently, the entire equipment should always be in good condition. Other wise, achieving success in fishing is impossible.
