The movies are full of perfect marriage proposals that leave the women in the audience teary eyed and the men wishing they knew how to do that. The truth is, there should be a lot of thought that goes into making a marriage proposal everything that your special lady has always dreamed of. Although it looks easy in the movies, the real thing is exciting, nerve wracking, and terrifying!



Unfortunately, many men, with good intentions, end up giving their bride to be a proposal that is somewhat less than dreamy. Here are five things that you should do to ensure that the love of your life gets her perfect proposal from you.

1. Dont create a public scene if you know she wouldnt be comfortable with all eyes on her. First of all, there are many people who are not comfortable having total strangers staring at them (go figure), and not only that, but with all eyes on her, she may feel pressured to say yes only to take it back when you two are alone. If she is shy, dont make an entire restaurant of people make her sweat by staring at her.

2.Stay away from the usual proposals. If your love for her is only as good as the everyday stuff, shell see it in your run of the mill proposal. Steer clear of the candle lit dinner, the flowers, the teddy bear. Find something extraordinary to fit into your proposal; she will know that she is just as extraordinary as it is.

3.Be careful to not be unprepared. You get one shot at your proposal, so if the planned time comes and you arent ready, you forgot something, or something isnt right, dont do it at that time! Practice exactly what you will say, what you will do, and work through whatever problems may arise and know what you will do if something goes awry. Be prepared as best as you can be. You will also feel more confident if you have been through it before from your rehearsals.

4.Make sure that your proposal is personalized to her. Although movies and television have really great ideas, if you are copying a proposal from a movie that she has seen (or worse yet, one that you two have seen together) she wont be thinking of how much thought you put into the proposal; what shell be thinking of is how she cannot believe you didnt take the time to make it

something for the two of you. Isnt she worth the time?

5.Finally, be aware of SPENDING TOO MUCH MONEY! First of all, if your Saturday nights for the last year together have always consisted of pizza at the pub and suddenly you are flying to Paris for a weekend getaway, she may suspect that somethings up and the whole surprise of it will be ruined. Not only that, but there is a fine line between the best that money can buy and the best that money can substitute for. Just remember that she will remember the proposal until her dying day; make sure that she thinks of you and your creativity, not the dollar signs flooding from your pockets.
