Whilst there are many things that you can do to reduce the cost of your overall home insurance policy there are still many things that are out of your control. Perhaps the most obvious and fundamental of these is the location of your property. Simply living in a certain area will add pounds onto your policy and whilst you may be able to reduce the costs to a certain extent, there isn't that much you can do about it.
Extreme weather is one of the major concerns of the insurance industry. In 2007 the industry faced three years worth of claims in just a few months. In response the industry had refused to insure certain homes, but after a deal was struck with the government this threat has been alleviated. Still, certain areas face extremely high insurance costs and difficulty re-insuring.
If you live in such an area, then, there is nothing you can do about the base cost of your insurance, still, there are things that you can try and do to shave off a few pennies.
One of the things that you can do is make sure that the impact of such extreme weather is reduced. Make sure that your drainage is as good as possible and that you have hard floors downstairs so if you are flooded the damage is limited.
Another thing that you can consider doing is changing your excess level. The excess is the amount that you have to pay at the start of any claim and if your excess is high then your premiums will be low. Likewise if your excess is low (thus you pay less on every claim you make) your premiums will be higher. Of course if you make regular claims it's a case of choosing the right level, whether to save on your premiums, or to save by paying less excess.
If you are worried about the area that you are moving into make sure that you check with the Environment Agency or your insurance company, both will have plenty of information on the kind of dangers you could be facing in certain areas.
Your insurer is also a good port of call as they will have extensive information on regions exposed to flood risk and may even be able to give you an idea of how much your home insurance would be were you to move house.
Home insurance is a necessary expense, if you suffer damage to your house it can be so extensive that you would never be able to pay to have things fixed yourself. Whatever your circumstances if you look around you'll be able to find a good deal for your own circumstances. If you are looking for a new home insurance policy take a look at Co-Operative Insurance for some very good deals at the moment.

Antibiotic Resistant Staph Infection Grass-fed cattle are not routinely fed antibiotics. They may occasionally receive them for an infection, but that would be the rare exception, and even then they are only used for a few days.
